Deng Agrees to 6-Year $70 Million, Bulls Shift to Gordon & Miller for Nocioni Rumor

According to ESPN's Marc Stein, Luol Deng has agreed to stay with the Bulls after threatening to become a free agent in 2009. Now the focus will shift to 6th man Ben Gordon, a critical piece of their team. There's also a rumor from a source that has "legit Bulls info" that the Bulls are interested in bringing back Kings' center Brad Miller in exchange for Andres Nocioni a 1st round pick and Cedric Simmons or Joakim Noah. The source says the Bulls want to resolve the Luol Deng and Ben Gordon contract disputes first, but Deng looks like he'll sign leaving just Gordon, a player the Bulls can't afford to lose to another team or overseas.

The Kings probably won't take the deal unless Noah is involved because they've been interested in Noah when they tried to draft him. The Bulls drafted him one spot ahead. The Bulls bringing back Miller, who's a better player right now, would be a good move to try to get back in the playoff hunt. A line-up of Derick Rose, Gordon, Deng, Drew Gooden and Miller would be pretty solid under new coach Vinny Del Negro.

It'd also make the Kings' frontline real young, real quick. 11 of their players are already under 26 years old and adding Noah would add to their talented bunch of Kevin Martin, Beno Udrih, Francisco Garcia, Spencer Hawes and summer league standouts Jason Thompson and Bobby Brown. That'll bring their average age to 25.7 years old.

The trade would be beneficial for both teams, unless Noah's attitude disrupts the Kings' locker room. They just shipped out Ron Artest to Houston and don't want another attitude problem If Miller does get traded, the Bulls don't get him for the first 5 games because of his 3rd offense of marijuana. Otherwise, I can see a turnaround for the Bulls as a 6-8 seed in the playoffs, while the Kings develop their young frontline of Noah, Hawes, Thompson and Shelden Williams, if he can show that he was the #5 pick 2 years ago.
