The Knicks made two big trades today, sending Jamal Crawford to the Warriors for Al Harrington and Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins to the Clippers for Tim Thomas and Cuttino Mobley. From a "win this year" standpoint, they look like horrible trades. From a "let's get LeBron in 2010" standpoint, they are small miracles. The Knicks have completely transformed their salary cap situation in a single day. All three players they traded for come off the books before the summer of 2010, or the "Summer of LeBron." The only downfall to this scenario is if King James decides to go elsewhere during that magical summer, although the Nets are becoming a less attractive alternative due to their arena troubles. Another small conundrum is that the Knicks are bound to be a less-than-average team for the next few seasons, settling for mediocrity, and holding their breaths for a savior.Check out more from Tony Arnoldine at http://tonyblogs.net

Tim Thomas with the save of the year.

Knicks Send Jamal Crawford to Golden State For Al Harrington

In the NBA some trades are made that seem a good fit for all parties involved. There are also some trades, where you look at the players involved, and you realize one team just pulled something over on the team they traded with. There is also a third sub-category of trades in the Association ...

Carnival of the Cap Space Trades

Image by Getty Images via Daylife Going through the links in the order I opened them up in Firefox… Lesters Legends was so fast they had to add a caveat that Zach Randolph might be traded after Crawford. The Harrington-Crawford Swap

This is what we know, Al Harrington is probably going to the Knicks in return for Jamal Crawford. Apparently the Clippers were involved for awhile, and they would have taken Zach Randolph off New York's hands, but according to ESPN is remained a simple Warriors-Knicks deal. I'd have to imagine ...

Who Ran The Bulls From 2003-2007?

In light of all the recent trades and rumors swirling around Paxson, people have been analyzing his legacy. My focus has been mainly on how much Reinsdorf was really calling the shots and whether that interfered with Paxson's job. But was someone else really pulling the strings from 2003- 2007? Scott Skiles put his imprint on the team and gave them an identity on the court...

NBA: The NY Knicks Are Cleaning House

Watching the Knicks play the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night, I came way with the feeling that very few of the current Knicks are a good fit for coach Mike D'Antoni's system. Jamal Crawford appeared uncomfortable and Zach Randolph was putrid versus the Celtics. This certainly wasn't Steve Nash ...

Fernandez working hard towards return to Bruins lineup

The Boston Bruins lost Manny Fernandez to 78 games last season after the goalie had knee surgery. Tim Thomas did admirably filling in for the injured veteran, but the Bruins need Fernandez back not only for this season but to mold future Boston goalies.

Good Riddance, Bulls Trade Larry Hughes to Knicks

ESPN is reporting that the Bulls and Knicks have agreed to a trade and are awaiting league approval.  The deal would send Larry Hughes (!!!) to the Knicks for Tim Thomas and Jerome James. Knicks finally get rid of Jerome James

The Knicks did the impossible, finding a team that would actually take Jerome James off their hands. That team is the Chicago Bulls, who will also receive Tim Thomas and Anthony Roberson in exchange for Larry Hughes.
