FIO staff writer Jorge Menocal continues his tour around the world of fantasy basketball with his take on the Top Ten Small Forwards for this year's fantasy drafts.
I agree with Lebron being #1, but Shawn Marion at #3 is overrated. Without Nash all he has is a little defense. And Paul Pierce at #6 is a joke. This guy is a walking injury and is past his prime. Thank Anige for waiting soo long to get to some REAL help in their. Pierce needed it 2 or 3 years ago.
Ranking Carmelo Anthony over Shawn Marion in fantasy basketball is sinful. Anthony's a great scorer with solid percentages, but he doesn't come close to Marion.
Anthony averaged 28.9 ppg game last season in 65 games, which is very good. Moreover, his 48% from the field while attempting 22 shots per game and 81% from the line while attempting 8.7 foul shots per game is nice too. However, 3.6 turnovers is kind of a lot to swallow. Also, 1.2 steals and 0.3 blocks flat out sucks.
Marion, on the other hand, might have only averaged 17.5 ppg in 80 games last season, but his 9.8 boards per game, 1.4 turnovers, great percentages (52% FG and 81% FT) to go with 2.0 spg (near top of league) and 1.5 bsg is enough to put Marion far, far past Anthony in terms of fantasy value.
Moreover, I think it's kind of ironic that Rashard Lewis is deemed a poor rebounder. Yet, he averaged 6.6 boards per game last season as a small forward. Likewise, the article states that Anthony has "exceptional" rebounding skills, though he only averaged 6.0 per game at the same position. Lewis' fantasy value is extremely underappreciated IMO.
Anyway, that's all just one man's opinion. Keep up the great articles!
