The Mavericks' inconsistent offense received a big boost Saturday night with the return of swingman Josh Howard.
And the Toronto Raptors received an up-close look at just how potent the Mavericks' new-look lineup can be with Howard in the mix.
Howard made his season debut and helped spark a 129-101 rout over the Raptors at the American Airlines Center.
Howard missed the Mavericks' first five games while recovering from off-season left ankle surgery. He started Saturday and finished with 16 points in 25 minutes.
The Mavericks closed their best offensive night of the season with a 44-point fourth quarter with mostly reserves on the floor. They shot a blistering 74.4 percent in the second half.

Mavericks players said Saturday morning at the team's shoot-around that they were excited to get forward Josh Howard back into the lineup tonight against Toronto. The game is at 7:30 p.m. at the American Airlines Center and on Ch. 21.

Josh Howard has 13 points on 4-for-9 shooting in the first half in his season debut and the Mavericks have a 55-48 lead over Toronto.
Howard came out aggressive and hasn't let up. He finished the first half by recording his third steal and taking the ball coast to coast for a layup into traffic.

The Mavericks have done a decent job closing out on the Raptors' talented 3-point shooters, but the game is tied at 32 with 8:56 left in the second quarter.
Josh Howard hasn't played in the second quarter yet after playing the entire first quarter.

Toronto has opened up a 17-13 lead midway through the first quarter. At this pace, Toronto will top 100 points again, as it has in every game this season. And that won't be good for the Mavericks.

Mavericks forwards Josh Howard and Tim Thomas practiced Friday, but forward Drew Gooden didn't practice. Howard and Thomas are listed as day-to-day, and Gooden is listed as questionable for Saturday night's home game against Toronto.
Thomas and Gooden won't play against Toronto and Howard won't likely make his season debut against the Raptors. Howard is still recovering...
