Today in the Association, Portland signed away point guard Andre Miller from my Sixers, and while it's not breaking the hearts of anyone in my hometown, I think it merits a few words. If Andre Miller is your point guard, you probably aren't winning a championship. He's borderline hopeless from three point range, and in today's Assocation, that's just a huge problem. As a 33-year-old point guard who has a ton of miles on his legs (he's played in 530 straight games, and 815 for his career, at 35 minutes a game), the end could be fairly soon, which is why the team didn't offer him more than a one-year contract. That, and the fact that no one in the Association who isn't named Paul Allen has money right now.Miller was The Other Guy in the Allen Iverson trade with Denver, and the fact that he turned out to be the best player in the deal was the biggest reason why the Sixers stopped being unwatchable in the past few years, and have made the playoffs. But he ...

News From the Front: Andre Miller (Probably) to Blazers

It looks like the Andre Miller era of Philly ball is coming to an end this afternoon. Two and a half seasons since coming from the Nuggets with Joe Smith in exchange for Allen Iverson, Miller's disenchantment with the franchise after the team's dispiriting playoff exit and the front office's lowballed contract offer (believed to be in the area of one year / six mil...

Andre Miller as a Trail Blazer

This seems to be quite fair, in all respects. 33-year old Andre Miller, stuck in "Knicks are my only option" limbo for nearly a month, has apparently decided to sign with the Portland Trail Blazers. The very young, Portland Trail Blazers. If that news alone leaves you a little iffy, I can understand. You want your players to be on the same page, age-wise. You don't...

Report: Miller 'finalizing deal' with Trail Blazers

The Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting Friday the Blazers and Sixers free agent point guard Andre Miller may be very close to a deal: Andre Miller's agent, Andy Miller, has confirmed that within 24 hours Andre Miller will be a Portland...

Blazers sign free agent Andre Miller

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -The Portland Trail Blazers signed veteran free agent guard Andre Miller to a multiyear contract on Friday.

Initial Rookie Report, Sessions Update, Other updates

The update on Sessions is, there is no update.  The Knicks still appear to be the major player in the discussion, but likely are still waiting to see what happens with Andre Miller.  It is sounding more like the offer for Sessions could come down to 4 years for slightly less than the MLE, which [...]

Miller Makes Portland Better, Iverson Running Out of Options?

After days of speculation over where veteran point guard Andre Miller would sign, everything became clear Friday. The Portland Trailblazers announced they had come to terms with Miller on a multi-year contract, though the financial terms had not been announced. Miller was seeking a multi-year deal, preferably with a contender, and his wishes were granted. The Blazers move makes...

Portland Blazers: What Now?

With $7.7 million in cap space, the Portland Trailblazers headed into the free agency signing period with high hopes to sign a star player. They hoped to add a piece to the young team that had won 54 games, in order to set them up for a championship run in 2009-2010. Plan A: The Blazers first looked to fill a hole at the small forward position in Hedo Turkoglu. Turkoglu had reached...
