by Bryan Crawford and Quinn Peterson This ain’t Appleson, so don’t you dare laugh. Nope, this is just two cats from ‘The City of Wind’ who happened to get credentials on the same night and joined forces for a recap of the final preseason game of both the Chicago Bulls and the Washington Wizards Friday night at the United Center. These notes are brought to you by Quinn Peterson, the guy who gave you solid pieces on the Chicago PG and the pride that is DePaul Blue Demon basketball; and Bryan Crawford, the guy who was once miraculously healed by the “air-ogance” of Michael Jordan. While Quinn and myself admittedly will never be able to, or try to duplicate the genius of Jake Appleman and Russ Bengston’s classic game note collabo’s, we decided to put our heads together to see if we can come up with something at least half as good. So, with that being said… Talk to the people, Q. Say no more, B. The Wizards looked like they were bored, and ready for the preseason to end Friday nigh...

Derrick Rose: “I’m like an old man”

Bulls fans couldn’t get much worse news than what the Trib reported today about Derrick Rose: “It’s going to be tough, I’ll tell you that,” Rose said. “I’m like an old man. I gotta wait 20, 30 minutes into practice to get loosened up. And it gets stiff when I stop playing.” Pressed on how many minutes [...]

Bulls Not Intending To Extend Tyrus Thomas?

Tyrus Thomas, a lightning rod of discussion and controversy for the Bulls, becomes a restricted free agent this offseason.  The Bulls have until October 31 to offer him an extension, otherwise they will have to match any offer another team gives him this coming summer to keep him.  The likelihood of him remaining a Bull [...]

What Are The Bulls Being For Halloween?

What would be the most appropriate costumes for the Bulls to wear for Halloween?  That is the question I tried to answer when writing this.  And I know, Noah looks exactly like Sideshow Bob, but that didn’t seem like the best costume for him in my opinion.  Here they are: Derrick Rose as Jesus Sacreligious? Maybe.  True? [...]

The Wizards still have swag

Let's take a brief breather from the Redskins, Drama City and the Burgundy Revolution to check in with the Wizards, who open their season Tuesday night. I'm thinking maybe it's good to have another team to distract us right now. So I checked in last week to ask a few players what this team's defining characteristic, in a non-basketball sense, might be. If you don...

Bulls name captains

How important are a team’s captains? In most cases the title doesn’t mean much. Players who haev leadership qualities tend to rise up and motivate others whether they’re a captain or not. Bulls.com reports: Luol Deng, Kirk Hinrich and Lindsey Hunter have been named team captions for the 2009-10 season. The players voted over the weekend and [...]

BULLS: He has touch down: Noah improves offense

Midway through the third quarter Friday against the Washington Wizards, Bulls center Joakim Noah caught a pass about 15 feet from the basket and immediately launched one of his infamous sideways-spinning jumpers.

For Wizards' Arenas, this is the threequel

Gilbert Arenas Part I was the tale of an unlikely hero: a second-round pick turned three-time All-Star. But the installment ended both abruptly and disastrously with the star lying on the basketball court, his left knee blown out and in need of surgery. Arenas Part II was supposed to be the triumphant return but, as do most sequels, proved disappointing. The guard endured two more...

Time no luxury for Wizards

In March, Washington Wizards owner Abe Pollin said when the offseason came, he would spend the money needed to help his team contend for the NBA title, even if it meant taking a salary cap hit. When the summer arrived, the 85-year-old authorized team president Ernie Grunfeld to upgrade the roster. Grunfeld dealt the team's first-round draft pick - No. 5 overall - to Minnesota...
