The reason that I feel like writing about this at all is that as the media cycle has come around on this Cavs vs. Wizards first-round matchup, and the prevailing opinion that Darius Songaila should not have been suspended for game 6 has now become an unarguable fact in the media. I heard Steve Czaban talk about it this morning on Fox Sports Radio. I heard commentators talk about it during the Cavs' game 6. I heard commentators talk about it during the Celtics vs. Hawks game 6. It seems that everyone talking about this suspension is now referring to it as a great travesty - an injustice of epic proportions - the proof that the NBA is at worst fixed, and at best in favor of protecting their meal-ticket LeBron James to whatever lengths to ensure that he succeeds. I have heard quite enough of this.

  • Nice post. I completely disagree with you however. The reason we are complaining is because it does matter what happens in other series. The NBA has to be consistent with how the hand down suspensions, or they dont have credibility. If they dont suspsend KG, or J Kidd then they shouldn't have suspended Darius.

Well Phooey on You, Cavaliers Fans

Looks like there is a bad case of double-standards being conconcted by the Cavs supporters by saying that a 45-37 team's record doesn't matter, but a 37-45 team does. What kind of math says that when you are only 8 games ahead of Atlanta during the regular season, that you think you are on top of the world. Just because you beat a Wizards team in 6 games?

LeBron Blows It

The Sports Muffin gives its take on LeBron's performance in Game 1 against the Boston Celtics: I argued a few days ago that Lebron James should have been MVP instead of Kobe Bryant. During game 1 of the second round against the Celtics Lebron did everything in his power to make me look like an idiot. He was only one rebound and one assist away from the triple double, but had...

King James enters the Court of Boston

LeBron has an opening. The Celtics look weary.

Anyone Remember This LeBron James Character?

First things first. I can find no fault in anyone selecting Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul or LeBron James as NBA MVP. Apparently, the Lakers star will have the award bestowed upon him later today (nothing like suspense, eh?)...

Carnival of the NBA #56 - Free Throws - It's All In Your Mind

My brother shot 10 for 10 before and after dinner every summer; they were LeBron's armor chink and nothing brings out the pagan side of a player faster than a foul resulting in two free throws.

Celtics/Cavs Preview: LeBron versus the world

Basketball is a funny game sometimes. On paper, it looked like Boston's first round series would be a cakewalk. Here you go, Big Three. Here's a young, inexperienced 37-45 team to sweep before you give your old bones some rest. Or, if you want, you can drop a game in Atlanta so you can give your fans a treat and win Game 5 in front of them. Only it didn't work out that...

Lebron James Chokes Under Pressure as Game One Goes To Celtics 76-72

In a game that reminded all of us why we fell in love with the Celtics long ago, Boston vanquished Cleveland from the Garden floor 76-72. Our Sensei beasted brightly, leading the charge of the Celtics Stoic defense with an impressive 12 rebounds and a solid 7 pts from the floor. No, Ray did not have his C game tonight. No, the truth was koan-ed by the inept officiating. This was...

Optimist or Pessimist?

The Cavs showed they can hang with the Celtics at home. OR The Cavs blew their best chance to steal home court. Either way, the series is 1-0 and Game 1 was UGLY.

The Daily Whine: Kobe beef

Well, today Kobe will win his first MVP award in a highly debatable coronation. If Greg and I podcasted more, our views would be well-known. We both have long leaned towards LeBron as the league's best player, and if you are going to throw the "most valuable" argument into the equation it is hard to discount Kevin Garnett or Chris Paul. I'm now starting to suspect Paul may be both...

Celtics 99, Hawks 65: Boston Turns Garden Into 7th Heaven

The Atlanta Hawks were confident after Game 6. They believed that they were on the verge of the biggest upset in NBA History. They felt it was their time to prove that this playoff berth was just the beginning. www.rawsportsblog.com
