TEAMS: Dallas Mavericks, Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz
Dallas.
The Kidd watch is back.
With a nifty pass to Dallas Mavericks teammate Josh Howard in the first quarter of their game against the Portland Trailblazers, Jason Kidd passed legend Oscar Robertson (9,887) for fourth place on the all-time assist ladder. Yahoo.com reports that Robertson was the career leader in assists when he hung up his sneakers in 1974.
Up next is Kidd's idol, Earvin Magic Johnson
(10,141) whom Kidd could also surpass based on his current 8.3 assists
per game average. Early next season, J-Kidd can move into second place
on career assists by passing Mark Jackson (10,334).
It is interesting however if the soon to be 36 year-old Jason Kidd will
play long enough to break the all-time record set by the Utah Jazz' John Stockton (15,806).
Kidd finished the game with 10 assists.

Team USA Roster Taking Shape One Week Before FIBA Americas Tournament
Kobe Bryant and Jason Kidd will be two key players to watch when Team USA plays in the FIBA Americas Tournament, which starts next week. The top two finishers qualify for the 2008 Olympics. Defending the three point shot and controlling dribble penetration are always vitally important for Team USA in FIBA play and are two areas where Bryant and Kidd's presence will be keenly felt.

While I Was Working
A lot happened in the sports world today, and none of it had to do with the Super Bowl!
I have heard the feedback and the mob scene at the top of the page has been removed. The fans have spoken!
Thank You for participating in the poll question. The 1985 Chicago Bears won this poll; read the following story for a different viewpoint:

What do you celebrate Josh Howard?
I know this video is a couple days old, but here it is. Josh Howard saying that he doesn't "celebrate the national anthem because he is black". I could probably write a long rant about this, but some people will definitely take it the wrong way. So seriously, what do you celebrate?
(I had to edit what I previously wrote)
What Was Josh Howard Thinking?
Skip to about 1:42 in the video below. "The Star-Spangled Banner is going on. I don't celebrate this shit. I'm black." What is Josh Howard doing saying this crap on camera? The only reason I post this is to remind athletes and their advisors that it is too easy to have one small comment at a charity flag football game end up a topic of national conversation. In this digital world...

CHEECH AND CHONG LOPEZ
by Mac G, Mac G's WorldIt is always intriguing to find out how little some jocks know about their sport compared to obsessive sports nerds. Most of us could rattle off every prominent member of a sports franchise's leadership but NBA draft prospect Brooke Lopez seems downright stunned that Lawrence Frank is the New Jersey Nets coach.Brooke's twin brother Robin came off...
Acing the Finals Test
Rick Barry's record for highest career Finals scoring average (36.3 ppg) will probably never be broken. Michael Jordan ranks second all-time (33.6 ppg) and Shaquille O'Neal (28.8 ppg) is the only active player who is in the top ten. Jason Kidd is not known as a great scorer but he is one of only five active players who has a career NBA Finals scoring average of at least 20 ppg.
New Orleans Hornets (56-26) vs. Dallas Mavericks (51-31)
Dirk Nowitzki has been running his mouth a little bit about rather playing the Hornets than the Lakers. Before he starts talking trash he better look in the mirror after his performance last season in the playoffs. Here is a look at the matchups:

Chris Paul Stands Tall
There's been recent debate in the NBA as to who is the best point guard. Analysts will place the names Chauncey Billups, Tony Parker, Derron Williams, Jason Kidd and Chris Paul onto their lists. Usually it's a contention as to who is the #1 choice between Billups and Parker, but some argue that Chr...
Jason Richardson Is Pretty Good
So I'm still pretty surprised that the Suns pulled off the win yesterday against the Lakers but with plays like this it's not that much of a surprise. Jason Richardson used some acrobatic moves to get the job done on this play.

Did the Kings turn down Artest-for-Bass swap?
ESPN's Mark Stein covered all sorts of topics in his "Vegas Chatter" column, but the thing that jumped out at me was this blurb about Dallas/Sacramento trade talk involving Ron Artest.
