The Celtics
have said they would match any reasonable offer for Glen Davis. The Detroit
Pistons, New Orleans Hornets and Portland Trail Blazers, league sources said,
tried to work a sign-and-trade deal for Davis only to be rebuffed by the
Celtics. Boston did offer Davis and guards J.R. Giddens and Gabe Pruitt to the
Pistons for forward Jason Maxiell and a first-round pick, but was quickly
turned down.
. --Marc SpearsNow this is an interesting rumor. Let's forget about Giddens, Pruitt, and the first rounder, and just focus on Maxiell v. Davis. Maxiell is the more intimidating defensive player of the two. He also plays above the rim on offense. Glen? He's a better jump shooter and better at holding his position on defense. Davis' footwork is also better. Maxiell is set to make $5m next season, and again every year thereafter until 2012-13.
The reason this deal is intriguing is that the players are a near even match. I was reading some Pistons message boards over the weekend, and for the most part, Pistons fans seemed to like Davis more than Maxiell, pointing to Big Baby's ability to defend the center position and better jump-shooting abilities. I might add that while Maxiell is probably the better shot-blocker and gets more easy hoops via dunks than Davis, Davis gets his fair share of rejections and dunks, too.
If this deal were to go down--Davis for Maxiell straight-up--you'd almost wonder if it wasn't just a case of two GMs suffering from the "grass is always greener" syndrome.

Tanguay: Steph Has Few Other Options
Tanguay reports
According to a league source, a possibility remains that Stephon Marbury could be back in a Celtic’s uniform. Marbury, who joined the Celtics as a back up point guard for a quarter of the season last year, originally turned down the veteran minimum ($1.3 million). Reportedly, his only other option is Europe. It seems that Steph might have second thoughts...

All The Celtics Have To Do Now Is Re-Sign Big Baby
While this offseason continues to show the NBA’s rich getting richer, there are still a few loose ends to attend to. Perhaps I’m just getting greedy after acquiring Rasheed Wallace and Marquis Daniels, but if the Celtics definitely want to make good on Kevin Garnett’s back-to-back promise, they have to ink a deal with Big [...]

Where The Celtics Are at Right Now and Where They Will Be
The Green have recently signed big-man Rasheed Wallace and are on the way to signing Marquis Daniels as I write. Kevin Garnett has successfully come off his injury. Things are looking great for the Celtics right now. They have great depth on both ends of the court.

Battle Of The Guards: The Top Backcourts in the NBA
Backcourts make the game move. The point guard is finding the player with the best shot, and that usually is the shooting guard. Together, they might be two of the most important positions in the game of basketball.
There are many great backcourts in the league, but I have narrowed it down. 12 players, six backcourts, here is the list in no particular order.
