20 Second Timeout:
Great all around play by LeBron James (23 points, eight rebounds, eight assists) and timely three point shooting by Donyell Marshall (18 points, 6-10 from three point range) carried the Cleveland Cavaliers to an 88-72 Game Six victory over the New Jersey Nets. The win earned the Cavaliers a berth in the Eastern Conference Finals, where they will face the Detroit Pistons, who eliminated the Cavaliers from the 2006 playoffs in a hard fought seven game series. James struggled a bit with his shooting (8-20 from the field, 6-9 from the free throw line) but he set the tone early in the game and made several big plays down the stretch. Jason Kidd (19 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists) led the Nets in scoring, rebounds and assists and did not commit a single turnover; the only blemish on his stat line was 7-20 shooting from the field.

5 Reasons I'm Starting to Hate the Mavs
Look, I'm sorry in advance to Mavericks fans. Your team is solid, but I just can't stand it much anymore.1. This team won't win ANYTHING! Sure, the team that Mark Cuban and the rest of the organization put together was a great regular season team, but they couldn't do anything in the playoffs, especially now. I don't want anyone to expect anything better than one or two wins in the...
Week in Review: Kidd making presence felt
The Dallas Mavericks are only three games in with Jason Kidd manning the point, and the team is already seeing some results. Against Memphis and Minnesota, Kidd had 15 and 17 assists respectively, both season-highs at the time for a player in a Mavericks uniform. In those two games, the team comb...
Jason Kidd's Not Without Blame
Filed under: Nets, New YorkAs we've discussed, Jason Kidd isn't very happy in New Jersey. As the Nets have slipped below .500 and remain far removed from the East's top tier, Kidd's not holding his frustrations back. David Waldstein of the Newark Star-Ledger captures the sentiment. Kidd said he could...
Wednesday Thoughts
I know I'm late on this, but I really can't believe the media sometimes. Most are questioning LeBron James' decision to pass to a wide-open Donyell Marshall at the end of the Pistons/Cavs game Monday night. The Cavs trailed by two at the time, and apparently several writers who can see into the fut...
Lakers need to be on guard
Their four-game trip features matchups with some of the best point guards in the NBA.
It's a pointed discussion, but the Lakers might have their hands full on a four-game trip because of Chris Paul , Jason Kidd a...
3 team trade HAWKS/NJ/DALLAS that works
Dallas gets Jason Kidd, NJ gets Speedy, Lue, Lo Wright and Josh Smith, Atlanta gets Devon Harris, D. Diop, Devon George, Jerry Stack to the rackHOUSE and some guy named Jaun Bareera or some crap. I needed to put him in to make the Salaries work. Dallas does it to get Kidd to try to put themselves ove...
The Difference for Team USA Was Kobe Bryant
'll be posting my final report card for Team USA's gold medal performance soon. Meanwhile, check out these two quotes about Kobe Bryant's importance to Team USA:
The L.A. Times' Mark Heisler writes:
In its stunning loss to Greece in 2006, the young U.S. players broke down completely on defense as the Greeks scored on pick-and-roll after pick-and-roll. In the...
JR
Jason Kidd faked being sick last night and the Knicks beat the Nets.  He used the migrane excuse.  I prefer calling in with diareah but to each his own.Dirk Nowitski keeps missing game winning shots.  This one against the Duncan-less Spurs.  Jason Terry once again proved  he’s not the pu...
Around the Rim: Dallas continues to lose its grip on a playoff appearance
1. Free fallin' Dallas thought trading for Jason Kidd would give them the magic they needed to keep pace with the other big time teams in the West. However, with Dirk Nowitzki riding the pine with an injury, the Mavericks are now in danger of becoming the team to miss the postseason after fa...
Deron Williams will become an all-time great
Deron Williams possesses all of the factors that determine whether a guy has a long successful career as a point guard : height, passing ability and shooting touch. If a guy satisfies just two of the factors, he will have a long NBA career; if he has all three, then he will be great. I tried Googling the ESPN.com article that covered the success-determining variables for a point...
Threats to win the NBA Championship
The recent flurry of trades in the NBA has invigorated playoff hopes for a number of teams. Shaquille O'Neal, Jason Kidd, Pau Gasol and Ben Wallace have presumably increased the chances of their respective teams winning an NBA Title. However, I don't think those additions change things much??"if at a...
Nostalgia Firday: SNES College Slam
Back in the heyday of the SNES, one game ruled the basketball scene: NBA Jam TE. This was before NBA Live dominated the scene because people just weren’t interested in having realistic stat tracking and game play mixed in with low quality 16 bit graphics. NBA Live was known as NBA Showdown at the time, and that’s when gamers realized that if you want to portray realism in every...
