Staying Back

On this road trip that the Blazers had i stayed back, I have a sinus infection. The decision was made that it would be best if i dont fly with it cause it may hurt even more. So i stayed back and did alot of rehab and did some lifting and got some shots up. I cant jump on my shot so i did a lot of form shooting. It was good to get out on the court and do anything. It was a preductive weekend for me so today im resting my knee. its feeling a little sore, but tomorrow ill be back at it strong.

Sinus infections are no fun, hope that goes away fast. Definitely makes doing anything a bit tougher, awesome to hear your still able to get some shots up and lift some weights. You practicing your specialty shots while your in rehab? You know, the H-O-R-S-E shots you practice... one bouncer from half court, sitting down!?

Man, its good to hear that your able to put up some shots now. Do you think you've lost much strength in your legs over this time period?

Glad to hear you're working on your shot, Greg. Injuries can be a blessing in disguise sometimes. After the way you developed that left handed free throw in college, I expected you'd take advantage of this time to work on your shooting. In fact, I've been predicting that you'll come to camp next summer with a greatly improved jump shot. I know Amare Stoudemire took advantage of his down time to improve his shot. And many years ago, I recall Larry Bird having a broken right hand or arm. He spent the offseason developing his left hand, and that became an important weapon for Bird the rest of his career.
Just listen to your body like you're doing. Your knee will tell you when you need to back off or rest.

Greg, my girlfriend and I are both just huge fans of yours and we can't say thank you enough for you just being you. We both agree that you are going to be great for the city and organization, and while we feel awful that you can't play this season, we certainly appreciate everything you've done so far. When you come up to Seattle next year, we'll be the crazy couple in black and red....
Best of luck!!!
BTW, think the Buckeyes are back in the football title picture?

Hey Greg. I hope you get better soon. You know I used to get colds all the time every winter and also a ton of sinus infections. Then I found out that for me Dairy wasn't good. I didn't have an extreme allergy or anything just my body made TONS more mucous whenever I ate dairy I also had digestive issues that I won't gross you out with. I just wanted to say if you are an O blood type like me you oughtta look at a diet of plenty of fruits veggies and good organic red meat. You can get Bison pretty easy in Portland and it's a nice lean meat that tastes like beef but its even better for you. Salmon is also good something we have plenty of in Ptown. Speaking of which lets see you out on the town more big guy we all want to mob you and let you know how much Portland loves our boy G.O. Take it easy Greg while you can soon enough you will be dominating in the paint again.

Glad to hear that you're getting some shots up, and hope you're knee feels better.

Poor thing... feel better soon.

looks like tim duncan got carried off the court today with a knee injury against
the blazers. you should give him a call tonight, and give him some really
bad advice (jump on it a lot, fall down purposely and land on the knee, drop
things on it to make make it stronger)... and then we have the western
conference locked down for the next ten years. all from one phone call!

That's great to hear that you're able to get out on the court and start shooting. We all know you've been working hard, so enjoy your day of rest. Good luck with the sinus infection, hope you feel better soon.

Awww that's so sad. I'm currently suffering with a sinus infection myself but I hope you feel better! Keep up the good work.

Hey, Greg, I was wondering what you think of the coaches/pritchard's concern of your muscle addition in the last few months? Do you think the added weight will slow you down at all? Or is it more of a concern for your knee? Had your knee not been injured, do you think you would have continued to put on more muscle mass, beyond 280 lbs?
Good luck with your recovery!

What's this I hear about you not living near a WalMart? LOL!

You know how LaMarcus developed his picture-perfect high-release jumper? By practicing shooting while injured. That would be awesome if you could develop a proficient 15 foot jumper.
Also, can you tell Brandon to dunk the ball more? He's missing too many layups.

Greg,
A sinus infection is definitely not something that should be ignored. I had one a few years ago, and just ignored it, continued working like before, figured I would tough it out and it would go away by itself. I treated it with over the counter medications that masked the symptoms. Before long, it turned into acute sinusitis. The infection spread to my ears, and I suffered a temporary hearing loss. So take care of yourself, big guy. I know you are strong and all that. But listen to your body. Infections like this are not something to take casually. BTW, I hope your grandmother is feeling better by now.
Best wishes,
Mark

Greg, Good to hear that you are back on the floor making some shots. Just pretend that we are all there cheering you on~! Love you Babe!

Good to hear about you stroking some j's bad to hear about your sinus infection, they suck!

Hope the rehab continues to go well. Just the other day, I posted how Portland is making strides and how it's happening with the biggest piece of the puzzle (you) on the sidelines.
This disenfranchised Blazer is excited to see what the future holds in store in the Rose City.
Keep up the good work. Welcome to the Northwest.

Is it hard for you to stay back? Do you watch the games when you are at home? Do you get frustrated when we are not winning? Is the sinus infection doing better?

Greg-I had my second ACL repair last week and the day before at my pre-op appointment they said that my x-rays and MRI look good and should be a routine repair JOKING with him I said atleast I don't have to get micro fracture like G.O. grinning trying to keep my spirits up before surgery thinking it will be a 3-4 months before full recovery. I talked to them today and asked what they performed and they said they did ACL repair and they had to do micro fracture on my knee cap to fix a devit in it needless to say I think I know the suprise factor that you went through and the pain. I will still make it to the game on thur. against the heat to cheer the blazers on i'll be the guy with the crutches and a #52 jersey on, hope you don't mind i'm using your journey to keep my spirits up thanks for being you.

Greg-Aww I'm sorry to hear about the infection, that's no fun. And I'm sorry to hear you couldn't be on the road with the boys. The last two games must have been frusterating to watch? Staying home is for the best though. I really do hope you get well soon. Blazers in Memphis tonight, GO BLAZERS!
Best of wishes-
Brittany.

Greg...for the sinus infection...take two tablespoons of APPLE CIDER vinegar with 8 ounces of water. Hope you feel better!

great to hear you've been gettin' some shooting in...you should be great at free throws by next season. Hope your progress continues to go well. Blazers will make some real noise with you in the lineup.

good to hear that your takeing shots now and geting on the court sucks about the sinus infection hopefully it will go way soon

Hi Greg, I'm sorry to hear of the infection. I hope, as an insurance that you are on a high quality suppliment program. Something of a much better quality than you find on the shelves. I'm taking something like that and I rarely get sick. (Just thinking of you and the team) I can't wait until you take the floor next year. I know you will be better prepared than if you had started playing this year. Best of Luck!

Another sinus cure - the neti pot - as seen on Oprah by my mom Yes - It's weird to pour a little pot of warm salt water in one nostril and come ot the other. But, believe me, it actually works. Try it. It can't hurt and will probably help.
I was skeptical but am now a neti believer. And it doesn't feel as weird as it looks.

Hi Greg,
Hope all is well!!
blazerjunkie

Hi, greg,
Just think in 2-3 yrs, you and LA will own the league. Just stay together!!!!

blazerjunkie

hey greg, my brother's friend Aron Lorent said that his sister is friends with you.. I think its cool that you're getting to know Oregonians! And just a question to be answered; When you do go on the road with the team, where do you do your rehab?

Greg: Had microfracture a couple weeks after you, so I checked out your blog. I'm pulling for you (though I gotta stay true to the Pistons). Tossed my crutches out this weekend and walked my dog tonight first time in 6 weeks. I'll be rooting for you. Work the rehab like a b***.

Didn't you have a sinus infection during the draft? You might want to consider removing your sinuses.

stay strong GO

Having a team doctor look at your sinuses might not be a bad idea if infections keep coming like they did during the summer.

Greg,

Take notes on what Dwight Howard is doing right now. That is what we need from you in a few years!! BLOCKS, DUNKS, AND REBOUNDS.
Cant wait to see you on the floor next year and get some advice from Shaq Daddy while he is in town

Yo greggg.. i know you saw your boy dequan cook get dunked/sh*tted on by travis. hahahah.
oh. and i saw that footage of you doing rehab. man, you ARE bulking up. you're gonna be a BEAST!

Hey Greg! Just wanted to send love from me, grandma, & grandpa. Sorry to hear bout your sinus infection. :-( Get better. Tell my big brother I love him and to stay out of trouble (or at least try his best!) LOL. Hows your pooch doing? Love ya bunches.

The Mini-Fro is lookin good, Mr. Oden.

Hey Greg, last night against the Hornets, the camera panned to you. You looked like you wanted to suit up and get in there. It was a frustrating game, but we got another one! Count em.... eight in a row! Can't wait until next year. GO BLAZERS!!
