After retrieving (or should I say rescuing) my Andre Rison Falcons jersey from the archives a few weeks back (and having others share their gems), that nostalgic late 80s/early 90s vibe hath returned. Sports jerseys were fashion statements back then. This is true. It wasn't just me. And, yes, they were cool -- then. Believe it. This post is great! I'll see your starter jacket and Zubaz and raise you a typical outfit from my tween days:
A big, shapeless Hypercolor t-shirt (whoever made sweat stains fashionable was a marketing genius!)
Spandex biker shorts (with a colored stripe down the side to make them extra sassy)
And finally, big scrunchy jazzercise-ish socks (sometimes layered in different colors to match my outfit) paired with white Keds!
Yes, I used to leave the house happy (and proud) to be dressed like this. I'm just thankful I didn't like to have my picture taken!

Great post. I remember those days. Especially the Skidz and my Miami Starter jacket which I still own proudly to this day. And the Umbros Bro, you are almost wrong for bringing those up, LOL. Definitely had a few pairs of those. Thanx for taking me back.
