The Bulls trounced on the Miami Heat tonight, as predicted. Their defense was absolutely stellar, holding the pitiful Heat to 66 points shooting 38.5% from the field. On the other end, all 12 players scored for the Bulls, led by Kirk Heinrich and Chris Duhon with 26 and 20 points respectively
Rookies Tyrus Thomas and Thabo Sefolosha played great in limited action for their career debuts. Thomas played 17 minutes, getting 5 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks (once rejecting Shaquille O'neal). He shot 1-4 from the field and got to the line 6 times banking in two of them. Sefolosha played 11 minutes and had a hot hand hitting all 4 of his shots from the field and all 3 freethrows. He racked up 11 points in the 4th quarter garbage time.

The Bulls looked downright scary last night. Miami didn't, but at least their rings are nice.

Thanks to a phone call from Kim Jong Il, Kirk Hinrich became convinced to accept the Bulls final contract offer late last night.
Wade’s at the top of another list
Sports Illustrated’s SI.com has a new ranking for NBA players. They’re calling it “Player Power.” Kelly Dwyer, who put it together, warns that it’s not the same as a fantasy list, because those have to go with the boxscores, not “the intangibles.” (Funny that the fantasy stats have to be closer to reality.)So anyway, to Miami Heat fans, this is a no-brainer. #1...

Ty Thomas - second coming of Dennis Rodman
This was the dawning moments of soon-to-be the nastiest, angriest, most overpowering defensive monster this league will have seen since in over a decade. Tyrus Thomas, 4th pick in this year's draft, is going to discover that the NBA is a man's game and he's surrounded by lightweight hip-hoppety players that will need a smackin. He's going to come back to the court...

I wasn't that impressed with the Bulls D just yet. It was good, but I did see guys like GP and Udonis Haslem getting many wide open looks and just bricking them. Also, DWade was taking Captain Kirk to school in that first quarter, and whenever he wanted.
The Heat's D was pathetic: There was no transition defense whatsoever, and you would have thought they had never seen a pick and roll before.
Positives for Heat: It's only one game. Plus, Dwade did look amazing.
Negatives: They got beat by fucking 42 points. Shaq looked like Erick Dampier on a bad night. The worst thing is we'll read in the papers tomorrow that the team's not worried, that they'll be able to flip the switch when it counts. As a Lakers fan, I'm used to this kind of talk from a Shaq-led team, but it's not going to work this year. Their savior's gonna be Jalen Rose? Gimme a break
Positives for the Bulls: They rolled the defending champs up and smoked em on their home court. Captain Kirk looked brilliant. PJ Brown looks like a solid veteran presence. Ben Wallace looks like the Ben Wallace we all know. The rooks were effective in their limited time, and neither of them tried to do too much. Of course, Ty Thomas got put on his ass twice, and Thabo got picked clean by Wade. Welcome to the NBA guys.
Negatives for the Bulls: Ben Gordon didn't look too hot. He was gunning, but they weren't falling. Chris Duhon looked like an MVP, but then he re-injured his foot. I'm still not convinced about their offense: there doesn't seem to be an identity on that side of the ball. There are a ton of pick and rolls and tring to draw fouls, which are both good, but who are they going to go to when they need a big bucket? Also, the Heat played no defence, and they won't be hitting 108 on the regular.
Positive for me: The Laker game is kicking ass right now.
