Mark Cuban's Response To Dwyane Wade

This is one of the reasons the Mavs are my favorite team and why Mark Cuban is the best owner in sports. Here is his brutally honest comeback to Dwyane Wade's remark to Dirk Nowitzki's comments about how the refs gave the Heat the championhip.

I hope Dwayne Wade was misquoted in an article today in the Miami Herald. I know the Herald has issues with accuracy and they are still probably looking for the boat I dont own in Miami, but according to the Herald, and i have a hard time thinking even the Herald could get this quote wrong, Wade said the following:

DIG AT DIRK

After the Heat practiced Thursday at Quicken Loans Arena, Wade was asked if he believes players are ultimately remembered for what they do at the end of games.

Wade, who usually is selective and subtle with his criticisms of opposing players, took the opportunity to take a jab at Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki, who has failed to give the Heat credit for beating the Mavericks in the Finals last season.

''At the end of the day,'' Wade said, ``you're remembered for what you did at the end. . . . I think that's the reason -- Dirk says they gave us the championship last year, but he's the reason they lost the championship, because he wasn't the leader that he's supposed to be in the closing moments. That's because of great defense by us, but also he wasn't assertive enough as a leader's supposed to be.''

Say what ? Is this the DWade of some of the lamest , boring commercials known to man ? Commercials that are singlehandedly responsible for selling more commercial skipping Tivos than anything else on TV ?

Dwayne I don't blame you for not looking at tapes of the finals. You obviously didn't. You would have seen your unbelievable skills and some other unbelievable elements that if I could discuss honestly here I would get fined for.

You are right, endings are remembered. And the ending of 3 of the games of the Finals will be remembered alongside Game 6 of the King vs Lakers Conf Finals a few years ago.

I guess you have earned the right to criticize Dirk with an obvious display of your own leadership skills.

I know Shaq appreciates your leadership as well. He called out your team a few weeks ago saying it was "embarassing'. Great leadership DWade. Your coach sat players for being fat. I guess you couldnt lead them away from the buffet.

You are an amazing player Dwayne. I love watching you shoot free throws. What you know about Dirk's leadership skills is non existent. You don't have a clue. Your ability to evaluate leadership skills....well you obviously have an overinflated value of your own. Did you take business classes at Marquette ?

Now we know why Charles won't put you in his 5.

And Im pissed for one more reason. Im going to have to miss our next game against the Heat on Feb 22. A previous engagement. I guess its just a missed opportunity to bring a local business class to the game and try to let them interview you about your leadership skills.

OMG...I love watching you shoot free throws...LMAO!
Coudn't lead them away from the buffet! Cuban is great

the free throw line couldn't have been funnier and more falsely subtle.

i love mark cuban

To me, Dwyane Wade got many phantom calls that were very strange and bad. The Heat would've made it interesting but if I think if the refs could be perfect, ( who is though? ) the Mavs would've won and I think most of us can agree with me on that one.

Now we know why Charles won't put you in his 5. Great line.

Wow, I'm glad that everyone is so fascinated with Mark Cuban and his comments, because that's the only thing he's got goin' for him. What you should be fascinated with is how DWade took over the Finals and single-handedly sent Dirk and the rest of the Mavs home sulking. And don't give me that crap about free throws, it's all part of the game, and those who go hard to the hole get the calls. I guess Dirk wouldn't know anything about getting those calls because he kindly stayed away from the paint. DWade doesn't have to say anything to be a leader, his performance spoke for itself and if Dirk wanted to be a leader he could've taken over the game himself and won it, but he didn't. So all this "Mavs would've won" is exactly what it is, woulda, coulda, shoulda.....but you didn't and DWade did, which is why he is wearing the ring and not Mark Cuban.

thats true, but did you not watch the finals? some many of those calls were bullshit. someone could sneeze in his general direction and be called on a foul. preferential treatment is the worst thing about every sport

He has a lot going for him. He's a freaking billionaire! Not millionaire, BILLIONaire. He also owns the best team in the NBA. He got calls that would have dramatically change the outcome of the game. You say whoever goes hard, goes to the line. Yeah, he goes hard, but no one was even touching him on some calls. You can't go hard, have no one touch you and the ref think, "hmmm, hes going hard, I'll give some free throws." It's pretty obvious to me that the Mavs were the better team last year and by far this year. It's also obvious that Stern-bot wanted to make the series interesting and to have the same drama as the NFL had with the cinderella story that the Steelers had.

I don't think anyone would argue that the Mavs were the better team last year, but let's be real, Dallas didn't lose due to the "phantom" calls alone. They simply didn't play as well as they could have and should have.

yea but it certainly didn't help. killed team morale

Do you think Jason Terry knocking down a few key shots in the end would have helped more than the calls? Star treatment is always part of the NBA game. The Mavs weren't there for Game 7.

Good call...

I just like the fact that Cuban mis-spelled his name throughout the post (dwayne, not dwyane). It's a shame when parents can't spell a name correctly for a birth certificate.

thats like stephon marbury. his mom wanted to name him "stephen" but couldn't spell it right...

I know I am late to this one, but I didn't realize that it was Dwyane until last week. So, all those realizations and conversations you have all had about his name since he was drafted just occurred in my head last week. :-P

Yeah, last year I was playing NBA Live and I when I went through rosters, I thought the people at EA Sports spelled his name wrong

I knew these refs cheated. Stern and his zebras what a joke with this gambling crap.
After 2006 Finals I knew it was a joke with so many OBVIOUS phantom calls.
Something was certainly up to make the games closer or to make an outcome in close games
with these horrible calls. I guess Cuban has the last laugh now to you denying suckers.

So I guess the refs cheated when the mavs went home this pass season, LOL. What bad refs to let the poor poor Mavs have a horrible season. LOL

Actually the person to have the last laugh was Dwayne Wade and the Heat because from what I remember WADE AND THE HEAT walked away with the Title and even though Cuban is throwing some Jabs that aint shit.
By the way who has the rings regardless what calls were made or not.
Keep Hatin
