Even worse than Barnes' cheap play was the fact that I saw him grab ONE rebound in game two. Maybe he grabbed more, but I didn't see it. He definitely has a paint allergy, because he made no effort to go inside. I'm hoping it's because he promised the Suns that he'd avoid injury at all cost.

Hard for the Yard:
Last week I posted a story about Matt Barnes losing his cool at a San Francisco Pro-Am game. He threw a ball at a referee in disgust, ostensibly because it took the referee too long to a call a foul when Barnes was getting mugged during garbage time with his team up by a decent margin. I gave Barnes the benefit of the doubt, because I was at the game. He was getting mugged. There were a bunch of amateurs trying to make a name for themselves.
But last night I was at game two of the Pro-Am Finals, and here is what I think: Matt Barnes is a dirty player who too easily loses his cool. Plus homeboy can't stop complaining. Ever. It's constant.
Seriously, who tries to trip a player in a Pro-Am game? C'mon, Matt. I expect it from your dirty-as-hell-flop-like-crazy point guard, who plays somewhere like Sonoma State, but not from you. You play for the Golden State Warriors Phoenix Suns, dude. Step up your sportsmanship game, Matt. You don't need to clown around like that.
Mat...

Wow...you know I love me some Matt Barnes but playing like that aint the spirit! Why the hell would a noted NBA player try and trip some unknown??? I just dont get it...

Yeah, it was super weak.

C'mon Matt. Don't rep Sactown like that.

I think he needs anger management... :) But seriously, tripping someone is not the adult thing to do. He knows that he could not get away with that in an NBA game! That's not a good way to represent the NBA. I still tbink that he is acting out of frustration from not resigning with the Warriors. I could be wrong, but I think that might be weighing on his conscience. I think this may be his last chance at getting it right with Phoenix so he can't afford to have these "temper tantrums" . It's just not a good look for him.

what a shame.

I'm not sure my post was entirely clear: Barnes missed the guy's foot, so he didn't actually trip the guy, but I had a great view of the play and it was dirty, dirty, DIRTY. Barnes was definitely trying to put this guy on the ground.

He comes across as a lazy player at times. I just hope that he finds his "nitch" with Phoenix. Any lack of effort on his part from here on will only lead him to another 1 year contract.
