Monster Trade Between Warriors and Pacers

According to Marc Stein, The Warriors and Pacers are soon to announce an 8 player trade. Going to the Warriors will be Al Harrington, Steven Jackson, Sarunas Jasikevicius and Josh Powell. Going to Indiana, Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy, Ike Diogu and Keith McLeod. What an awful trade for the Pacers. They are getting two of the worst contracts in the league in Murphy and Dunleavy (the original poison pill, and widely regarded to be the worst contract in the NBA). Diogu is an excellent prospect, but is a bit undersized and didn't fit into the Warriors plans. The Warriors are getting the two best players in the trade, Harrington and Jackson, and the Pacers are getting back big dollars with little talent.

I don't see Indiana's reasoning behind this deal at all. The best thing they got out of the deal was purging Stephen Jackson from their roster, but from a talent standpoint, this is a major step down in my opinion.

if Diogu pans out it will be a good trade but until then they got raped.

Is this supposed to keep Jermaine O'Neal in Indiana? Taking away his two other best offensive options? While I will miss seeing Dunleavy out at bars in San Francisco, I don't really see the reasoning here.

I think that Murphy and Dunleavy could be really really solid players in the right system. Maybe that system is Indiana's, as O'Neal would operate in the low-block, and Murph dog would keep defenses honest. Dunleavy never was going to live up to his draft position here, and I think he could find his place over there. Of course, their contracts are laugh-out-loud ridiculous.

for everyone who drafted murphy in their fantasy leagues, one can only hope that he pans out.

Given the grief O'Neal has given the Pacers about next season, the Pacers should have shipped him to the Warriors along with Jamall (it ain't my weed) Tinsley. They should have shipped Carlisle with them as well. Of course, they could be in the Greg Oden race, which would be pure genius!

They can't get in the Oden/Durant race when they traded their first round pick for Harrington.
