Dallas does all they can to get a player who has proven that he makes teams better and now they seem like Kidd is a semi-liability to their "stellar" roster. In a league where there is no run away favorite Dallas seems to have put themselves in a postion to gain ground and possibly win the west (they should think that; I don't), but they aren't thrilled; which begs the question, why?

According to ESPN.com's Marc Stein, the Nets and Dallas Mavericks have a conference call set up for early Tuesday to discuss with league officials the many sored details of the trade that will send Jason Kidd to Dallas...finally. Net's team president Rod Thorn sent word out to media members Monday night that the deal, "appears to be a go."

Mark Cuban and the Mavericks have averted the large obstacle that presented itself when they tried to swipe Jason Kidd originally, and have rejuvenated hopes of getting the Nets triple-double machine. After Devean George blocked the potential deal, and the NBA ruled that Jerry Stackhouse couldn't be involved in the trade, Dallas moved swiftly and rearranged the deal to make it work...

Well after a week or so of talks and rumors going back and forth Jason Kidd is officially a Dallas Maverick. Don't believe it? Well Mavericks owner Mark Cuban confirmed it telling ESPN "It's done, J-Kidd is a Mav."

It sounds kind of weird but supposedly Avery wanted Dirk out of Dallas after last years playoff flop. On top of wanting a great point guard in Jason Kidd the Mavs also need a great leader to help them get through the playoffs.

Bare in mind, all of this nonsense has been brought to you by the wonderful NBA CBA, which has never made any sense to anyone. The CBA contains numerous stringent trade restrictions that were probably designed to prevent lop-sided salary dumps, but have only served as the genesis for a salary dump of a different kind whereby teams dump their hefty contracts in exchange for expiring...
