NBA Slam Dunk Contest is BACK!

Wow, what a fun night of entertainment. I love All Star Weekend. But as always the highlight of All Star Weekends is the Slam Dunk contest. Rudy kind of was a dud, and Moon got knocked out as well after the first round. But Dwight Howard was a man on a mission. His first dunk was insane he busted out an off the backside of the backboard dunk in the first round to hit a perfect score of 50. Gerald Green busted out the birthday cake dunk, where he blew a candle out on a cupcake, the cupcake was mounted on the back of the rim.

	Dwight Howard owned the dunk contest. Easily the best performance I've seen in years. Looks like the leagues got a new Superman. ;)

	Everyone I was with also said it shouldn't have counted... I don't know. It looked clean to me. I'd have to see the video again though.

	Yeah it should not have counted, I think we will not see a lot of replays since the NBA is trying to hype the Slam Dunk contest a little more, I will try to pull it off my media pc since I dvr'ed it with Media Center. But he was probably about 1.5 ft away from the hoop and threw it in. But the thing is he could have dunked it, he was much higher then the rim, and he had perfect speed, I think he just got excited. None the less, he won, it was cool, but it should not have counted.

	That was the best contest I've seen in a while. Howard was crazy with the Superman dunk. You will believe a man can fly.

	Dictionary definition of dunk: a basketball shot in which the basketball is propelled downward into the basket. That thing was on it's way down, you don't have to touch the rim.

	Wow, thanks for that. Where did you get that info from? So if I shot a jumper and elevated higher then the goal and threw it in that would be considered a dunk? Seems strange.

	Dictionary.com. As long as you throw down the shot, but if we're talking about standing on a ladder and throwing down the ball standing over the hoop, that's no dunk. It'd be hard to do a 3 point dunk though from a jump shot.

	I thought it was just alright. All of the props and different places to bounce the ball in order to do the same old dunks. I would like to have seen some originality. Maybe a 720 windmill or something. I don't know.... Just seems like the contest isn't as pure as it used to be.

	I agree, we do have some people in the league that can dunk like And 1 guys, and TFB, but nobody cares in the association. It would be nice if we started seeing 540's, 720's, and things that were not so theatrical. But still it was fun to watch.

	I remember back when a simple dunk from the free throw line was an automatic contest winner. And back when JR Rider did the between the legs dunk, he didn't have to catch the ball in mid-air to win it. They aren't just doing the same old dunks, theyre making it harder. What do you expect them to do? Start dunking with their feet? The only thing the dunk contest has been lacking over the past few years was creativity, but it definitely WASN'T last night.

	Yeah the whole all star weekend was exciting and very very fun to watch. They should have two games a season. Great fun all around, even the skills challenge was fun to watch.
