NBA, Where 10th to 1st Place Happens, What's Next for Rockets

After defeating the Lakers, the team that was tied with them, the Rockets stand alone at the top of the west, winning 104-92. "Skip to my Lou" Rafer Alston was amazing dropping career highs of eight 3 pointers and 31 points while Bobby Jackson came off the bench for 19 points and 6 rebounds. T-Mac was ice cold in the first half, but he had 8 of his 11 points in the fourth quarter and finished with 6 assists. The thing about T-Mac, he'll be there when it counts.

Just about every player on the Rockets pitched in. Luis Scola had a double double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Mike Harris, signed to a 10-day contract, had 6 points and 6 rebounds. Chuck Hayes had 3 points and 6 rebounds while Luther Head contributed 7 points. Dikembe Mutombo had 9 rebounds and a block, while Shane Battier had 14 points and a late game block on Kobe Bryant. All around team effort.

Speking of Kobe, he had 24 points and 7 rebounds while Lamar Odom had 17 points and 11 rebounds. Vladimir Radmonovic had only 5 points, despite starting, but had 5 rebounds to go along with Ronny Turiaf, getting the start in Pau Gasol's place, had 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Luke Wal;ton had 9 points, Jordan Farmar had 8, Sasha Vujacic had 7, Derek Fisher had 6 and D.J. Mbenga had 3. No player on the Lakers had more than 3 assists.

The Rockets continue to roll after breaking the first place tie and claim supremacy, but their record doesn't get any easier after this. They'll have to go to Boston to take on the Celtics, who came off of their first home loss to a Western Conference team, the Utah Jazz. After that, home games to the Hornets, Warriors and Suns. They've gone 22-0. 26-0 would be amazing if they pass all of these teams. With a the team like the Rockets, it's not impossible.

24 points on 33 shots lol

i wish Kevin Martin could put up 33 shots in a game, he might score 60

It's all Rockets, Ya Digg! 22 in a row

houston is playing some great ball

It isn't funny anymore. The Rockets are looking like the NBA's new York Giants. The Playoffs are going to be insane. Do not give it to the Rockets just yet. They will miss Yao before it is over.

Whats next is a victory over Boston

A victory for Boston... Boston isnt going to lose one of there best players before the game like the lakers, hornets, and mavericks did. Just wait... I hope I am right...

Thekingsfan, why even compare Kevin Martin to Kobe??? Never can you compare somebody on the sorry kings to Kobe. Please! The kings never could never will beat the lakers... deal with it!!

Rewind only 1 week ago, Kings 114, Lakers 113. Season series tied. Shame on the Lakers for losing to the "sorry" Kings and letting a rookie dunk on them. They must not be sorry if the Lakers big 3 all played 40+ minutes.

Rockets are the HOTTEST team in the NBA. Rockets vs. Celtics is gonna be a great game. #23!

Rockets are definitely hot now. And, without Yao. Johnson played a hell of a game yesterday against the Lakers. Celts also play here in Dallas on Thursday night. Will be a road test for them against the Rockets and the Mavs.

rcs Rewind.... Can the kings do it when it counts??? you know the playoffs??? Rookies dunk all the time, thats not that uncommon. WHere are the kings??? Where are the lakers??? With out one of there big 4. Yea maybe if the Kings make the playoffs in the next 5 years you can talk thanks!

You said nothing about the Kings doing it when it counts.. the only thing you said "Please! The kings never could never will beat the lakers... deal with it!! "

114-113

and the kings are sorry

yes sorry to beat them 114-113

yes sorry to beat them 114-113

There we go with the playoffs. I was just saying that the Kings could beat the Lakers and are actually 13-13 in the regular season since the 01-02 season. Nice to bring it up, especially when the Lakers got booted out twice by the Suns in the 1st round, and didn't even show up in 2005, where the Kings did.

Kings are in rebuilding mode. Rookie coach, new staff, new players. Plus our 3 best players were hurt for a lot of the season. Try taking out Kobe for 19 games, Fisher didn't start 'til mid January and Odom was suspended for the first 7 games, then got hurt in mid-Dec. to mid Jan. I guarantee you 10 of those wins wouldn't be there.

Before the season, they were supposed to get 27-33 wins. With those injuries, it could have been 20-25. They got 30 wins with 16 games left. On the way, they've lost to the worst, but they've also beaten the best teams in the league. They'll make the playoffs in the next 3 years.

I know what i said... I said it... sorry for you taking it so literal. Of course anybody can beat anybody any night... But if anybody compares the lakers and the kings then they are not to sharp.... and the kings are sorry!. Deal with it...

deal with 114-113, wanna keep going?

stillatin, yea we can keep going... because thats all you got. Because you know who is going to be in the playoffs???? Let me help you not the Kings...

rcs, do you wanna bring up what the Kings vs. Lakers record playoff wise is???? Because Im pretty sure that the kings were the team that the lakers were beating to win those championships.. Werent they???

Yeah the Kings got swept in 01, but took it to 7 games the next year. After C-Webb got hurt, it was over playoff-wise. Those days are over and I'm not clinging on to them and neither is Kobe.

Not trying to convince you the Kings are better, just saying that the Kings can beat the Lakers.

Trying to compare the Kings to the Lakers is like trying to compare the dollar to the euro at this point. Without Gasol and Bynum, the Lakers might be a little soft right now, but I wouldn't count them out come playoff time.

I would just like to apologize to the Rockets for completely writing them off. I'm Sorry please T-Mac don't make me regret this apology, but I got to give it to them their playing some good basketball! Go Rockets!!!

They are finding ways to win without the stars being hot. Gotta hand it to them. Can they keep it up?

I think this bit of NBA History will ultimately fall by the boards. T-Mac and company will eventually get bounced out of the playoffs and he'll still be dealing with 'can't win the big game.'

true, but he wont be as sad.

It all starts with a loss to the Celts IMO... then to the Hornets.. I think they will either win there next 4 or lose there next 4...

Peaking a bit early? Don't worry guys it's a very common problem.
