No New News On Posey/Maggette

Mark Murphy reports: (http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/basketball/celtics/view.bg? articleid=1105106 format= page=1 listingType=celt#articleFull)

Free agent James Posey, via agent Mark Bartelstein, continued to

talk to other NBA suitors in the wake of what he considers an

unacceptable offer from his former team - one that falls short of the

$5.8 million mid-level exception as well as his desire for a 4- to

5-year deal.

A Celtics source also continued to insist yesterday that the team

has not made a formal offer to free agent Corey Maggette, and that the

former Clipper is simply aware that the team has a $5.8 million

mid-level exception available - the same amount the team has been

unwilling to offer Posey.

But as Maggette continued to consider offers yesterday, with the

Warriors reportedly getting into the act, a number of teams had

something to offer that the Celtics won’t - a starting job.

Though the Spurs had the same salary slot available, San Antonio is

also interested in the high-scoring, volume-oriented Maggette as a

starter.

frustrating CBlog peeps, as Danny needs to get someone worthy...quiet before the storm that will start Wednesday with inkage of contracts...based on your Posey and agent feedback, maybe they just are going real hard at Maggette instead, Anderson, who friggin knows...keep the faith as we need one 4/5 good big man and 1 more 1/2/3...simple, but a couple of new pieces, and we fans can get ready for October Camp...yes, it's killing me as usual, FA!
