Just coming across the wire right now....It's official per ASB of Mlive.com The Detroit Pistons have reached a tentative agreement to trade Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess to the Denver Nuggets for Allen Iverson. Neither player was at this morning's shoot-around. Team officials said that more information would be forthcoming later today. Will update as the day goes on. Pretty obvious from the first couple of games into the season that the Pistons needed some new life. ...

Crazy. Seemed pretty obvious also that the whole Iverson melo thing wasn't going to work.

Wow. An excuse to cheer for the East again. I'm thrilled with this trade. I love Iverson and the Pistons were my team growing up! Very exciting.

i wish the sixers would of gave a package deal to bring him back home... never would of happened, but AI was more respected in philly than the media tried to play it out as...

im glad he is with the pistons now... welcome back to the east!

Wow that's all I gotta say Chauncey is sent packing and Allen Iverson is coming to the Pistons,Welcome Back AI..That has to shake up the contenders in the East now? Boston and Cleveland might wanna watch out for the Pistons..Oh one other question is Rodney Stuckey gonna give up his #3?

This is like the Shaq trade. It's either going to be a rousing success. Or a giant disappointment.

Most likely the latter of the two, just like the Shaq trade turned out to be.

I am however psyched that Iverson is back in the East now. He's always been one of my favorite players, and ever since he's been traded to the Nuggets I've only been able to see him play my Sixers a few times. This way I'll be able to enjoy his ability on the court once again.

Very interesting trade. Detroit gets the difference-maker their offense needed and the Nuggets finally have a true point guard with the ability to hit big shots.

  • I wonder if Stucky will give up his Jersey number for A.I?

I can't for the life of me picture Billups playing anywhere other than Detroit. But I suppose I thought the same thing about Favre & the Packers.

It's an interesting trade, that's for sure. I agree with Speedwell, this will either be a huge success or a huge disappointment. It just seems a little lopsided and in favor of the Nuggets.

Chauncey actually played in Denver early in his career right after he was draftedc by the Celtics during the Rick Pitino Era aka Them Dark Days In Boston, and was traded but it didn't work out well and He landed in Detroit and the rest is history..Well this time around they got Carmelo and Kenyon so it should be different..

The best part about this move is now they can play Maxiel for 35 minutes a game, run the old guys (Rip and A.I.) out for the first quarter and then let the young guns take over from there.

The Pistons also now officially have the skinniest 1-2-3 in the league. Tayshaun, Rip and Iverson weigh a combined 320 pounds.
  • im so stunned right now... i dont even know what to think... i had hope the ai melo camby would have went better.. they should have kept steven blake.... and the new roaster looks hot... but i cant be mad neither.. going to the piston..might be a good look..they got a squad already even though i not a pistons fan but they go hard

This is going to help the Nuggets a lot. They get someone who can fit in nicely with Carmelo and distribute the ball much better than AI.
  • well the pistons are freeing up a lot of cap room after this season by doing this and will give them an opportunity to pursue much more talented players.
I just feel the Pistons are playing Lathargic basketball and something needed to be done and with Iverson coming to the end of his contract if this trade doesn't work with AI they can start fresh the following season.
Nuggets needed a true PG and leader, now they have one to go with their young talent, JR Smith is going to need to step up. I just hope NeNe stays healthy and they can fill Camby's defensive void in the front court.
Win/Win no matter which way you look at it, good trade
  • One things for sure if it doesn't work out with allen I, he's in the last year of his contract so is Sheed and Joe will have alot of dough to play with in the offseason then he can build around Stuckey and Tay

I'm happy for Allen. Both teams benefited from this trade. Billups who has always been a pass/shoot guy will get everyone involve. However, for Denver there is no true back up at the point. Anthony Carter is only going to do but so much. There is a possibility that Dumars might get rid of Wallace to build upon a Youth Movement. This should have happened in the off season when they should have jumped on Josh Smith. But like everyone else, i guess we will all see soon enough.

wow.... i cant believe this trade happened... iverson back on the east side.. but with billups n mcdyess gone, i still dont see them being able to knock off the C's with iverson...
    • eaglesfan4lfe
Better yet I don't see them knocking of the sixers either. They will be under dogs this year but I expect them to at least make it to the finals.

The Nuggets should drop Melo while they're at it ... he's not good enough to build a team around. Personall,y I'd rather have J.R., who's going to get his 20 a game now that he doesn't have to share the ball with A.I.
  • Tilly714
This may be a good thing for Denver, but not sure how it will serve Detroit, what made Detroit so good is how well those guys knew each other and played togther as a team. I don't think Iverson is a good fit he is to much of one man show. I love A.I. but he doesn't fit well with the Team no superstar philosophy of Detroit. We will see.
  • lsutigerfan19
I'm curious what the starting lineup will be with this trade..I really don't see AI fitting in to Detroit's system

Does Detroit now have enough cap space to sign LBJ?
  • mariZack
I love the Nuggets, and while AI was such a hardworker, I'm really happy with this trade. Billups is a true PG that passes the ball a lot more than Iverson did. He will get the ball to everyone and not have to shoot a ton of shots like AI did. I love that Billups is back in CO, he went to HS in Denver and college at CU, and he was a Nugget for a couple seasons early in his career. I always like McDyess, especially when he was a Nugget. Great trade for Denver! GO NUGGETS!!!
