Over the next five weeks, I will go position by position and rank the top 30 players by total value. The NBA is a business, so it doesn't make sense to purely rank the players only by their talent or stats, or by some other qualitative measure (though those factors do matter). We must also look at a player's salary relative to his peers. Obviously, if a player is in the middle of a very reasonable contract, he'll get a boost in the rankings. Great list. Though I think I would have ranked Billups at the #3 spot and knocked TP down to 4th. Nash will always be my favorite obviously, but you do have a point...it's apparent his age is catching up with him. He's still great though.

And CP3...the greatest PG in the league right now, unquestionably.

Thanks - it's interesting to look at total value and see how age, salary and potential play into a player's trade value. I think that Parker's age (25) gives him the edge over Billups (31), but ability-wise the two players are very close, yet they give you very different things. Check back tomorrow for my shooting guard rankings.
  • no way TP could be number 2 and knock off williams look how he plays in big games and he himself knocked off the hornats he matched chris paul. nash is still one of the best at the pick n roll and he is deadling from three he kept his team in it against the spurs but shaq is too slow on pick n roll
