TEAMS: Houston Rockets
PLAYERS: Yao Ming
Yaomingface
Dire news out of Houston, if reputable Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! has the right information. The Rockets announced last week that Yao Ming would remain out "indefinitely" -- in other words, the broken foot suffered in the playoffs that was set to be healed by now has not healed. But there's plenty of time until opening night, right?Maybe not enough time. Woj reports the prognosis could have Yao on the bench for all of 2009-10, and there's a chance his basketball career is ...

Sad news. Yao was starting to come into his own the last two seasons and has been sidelined both years with the foot problem.

Yao going down like this is bad for NBA basketball. It shows further proves the notion that these 7+ footers are fragile and their bodies are not built to take the pounding of professional sports.

Awful news, and maybe he'll wind up like Big Z - another gigantic man who was able to overcome foot injuries to have an effective career. With that said, the Rockets have to blow it up.

Let Ron Ron go where ever, and cash in on T-Mac's contract for some assets. I suggest a T-Mac, Brooks, Battier deal for Rondo and Ray Ray. The deal gives the Rockets a nice (if moody) young productive point guard to build around, and Ray will ensure the team is watchable for at least a year.

The Celtics appear to be done with Rondo, and don't want to give him a big-money extension. Battier could arguably improve their defense, and with Shane, Brooks, Pierce, a healthy Garnett, and Perk, that's still a contender. Lots of details would have to be worked out of course - as I don't think those salaries match up - but the Rox need to rebuild and do it now.

Poor Yao... And besides being injured and being bummed about not being able to play, I bet he feels the weight of a whole nation on him, like he's letting down China or something...

It's better for him to sit out a season, than to become the next Zydrunas. This is sad news for the most offensively skilled big man in the league.

The sad thing is, he does really have the entire nation of China on him. And he is letting the country down, from China's perspective. They are just the dependent on their athletes. Which is sad. I really hope Yao's career isn't over. It would be good for him to sit out. Also, see if there's more that can be done to heal this injury.

With Tracy already being injury prone this is definitely not good news for the Rockets, to me the team seems to be in limbo.

    GET BETTER YAO!!!! ALF TIME
  • This is what happens when you "GROW" a Human Being with growth hormones and steroids. He got his fame, his money and his poor health. Something is wrong because some steroids are suppose to heal things or make things heal faster. I am surprised the Chinese can't make something or invent something to help their star pupil. Never fear, more Mings will be coming off the assembly line or those Chinese growth farms. He did have a few skills but he was never gonna complete a full season nor was he gonna be around for playoff games. His legs were too big and thick and his feet were too large to run up an down a court. He had no stamina at all. I'm glad he didn't die while playing in a game being televised.
  • Mr. Yao need to "Lose Weight" and locate a "Yoga" teacher, to much weight on weak ankles will never work. Mr. Yao must drop the weight
    or "Retire".
