With the ACL injury to Jason Smith, the Sixers will be looking for someone to fill in as a back up center and power forward since his season is pretty much over before it starts. The Sixers can offer just a minimum contract and word is that former Sixer (and Celtic) Theo Ratliff is high on their list to contact. Ratliff played in only 2 games in his year with the Celtics and he and his expiring contract were sent to Minnesota in the deal that brought KG to the Celtics. The Wolves cut him and ...

  • This article got my attention because I too hate Kobe. If he goes to Italy, good riddance!
  • i dont care i still love kobe bryant and i doubt he will leave the nba. you just hate the man
  • LOL You kobe haters have way too much time on your hands.
If he was just an average player you wouldn't give him a thought. You're just mad because he is so good.

so what if hes good>? doesnt mean that we like him FOR that. hes a self centered player n is wayyyyy to cocky i think. Yea hes good @ what he does, but he is not a great athlete off the court. A lot of fans are fans to those players that actually care about other things than money in this world, like Baron Davis. Sure he went to LA for money, but that was cuz GSW wasnt offering him anything BUT he has ALWAYS been part of the communities out here in the bay and now doing the same in LA. Kobe likes to show his "love" for children and family when all eyes and cameras are on him. Baron does his thing whether or not hte camera is on him. And he lets the fans know about how to get involved.
I hate Kobe not because hes good, i hate him because he doesnt give back. thats my story and im stickin to it!

and no BD wasnt offered anything. I know because my friend works for the warriors. paper made baron look bad.

but i dont like Kobe and ill be straight forwarrd with u on that.

Ok how does he think too highly of himself? What you justed stated means cocky. But you still havent gave a good answer. So I will take it as you have no idea of what you are talking about.

i dont have to justify anything for u. its my opinion and ur thoughts dont matter to me.
i think kobe thinks hes better than everyone...my friend was at @ practice once, and while the rest of the team was being told what to do during practice, he was off to the side shooting hoops. like wtf. but whatever i dont like kobe. i dont have to prove why i think any of this.

So you are just being a dumb ass? Okay, thats all you had to say. Oh my friend was at this practice this one time, and this one thing happened, so I dont like him. Good job.

"ps kobe is better than everybody. so get over it"
wow... ur the dumbass to be saying something like that.
again, my opinion, what u have to say means nothin to me. so say all the bs u want to me it really doesnt matter what the hell u think.

he dont hang with the team, get hotel rooms by himself on a floor away from the rest of team, tugs on his jersey, blows on his fingers, puffs his chest, point his nose in the air, walks with a swagger, tries to emulate MJ in every single way, but is comin up short in rings

i believe Phil mentioned this stuff in his book, Michael Wilbon reported this and how last year was really the first year where he actually had meals with the team, stayed on the same floor, took the same bus to the arenas every night, and would actually hang with them off the court. I love the lakers and Kobe's skills, but he does come off as an arrogant and cocky individual

Also he gives to his charities, plays his part in Darfur, and does love his kids. You can doubt his love all you want, but it aint changing anything. GS did give Baron an offer, but he went back home, and wanted his money. Why cant Kobe want to go back home to play?(Italy)

  • Sounds like you probably didn't like Kobe too much before Colorado. Hey Mr. Judgemental or is it Mr. Perfect? I hope you throw your stones at other jocks as well... Larry Bird has an illegitamate child he allegedly never visits or supported, Tom Brady's private affairs could be scrutinized, Is Brett Farve a selfish jerk? How bout Roger Clemons or Mark McGuire?
David Beckham, Rick Barry, Pele, Hershel Walker, Steve Young all left established leagues to play in new or substandard leagues for cash. This is a business and the Euro is killing the Dollar right now.
If you don't like Kobe because of Colorado well that is a different debate but in his professonal career as a basketball player, i see a guy who plays hard, trains hard, won big games, put up big stats and is a sure fire Hall of Famer... I am a die hard Laker fan and would hate to see him in some other gear but as we have seen in the Green Bay - Brett Farve saga, Professional Sports is a business and if some euro team makes some out of this world offer to Kobe who am I to say you can't consider it. Option #1 stay in LA where you are loved by many and play in the NBA the gold standard of Hoops for a large amount of money but you have to deal with media and fan scrutiny at a level few athelets have ever faced....
    Or
Option #2 Play in Italy for maybe the richest contract of any Basketball player ever in a country you grew up in where you will be treated more favorably by the media and fans and you will take the game of Basketball to new hights in the World.
I hope he stays a Laker for life but I also hope folks would stop hating for a moment and just enjoy one of the greatest players ever while he is here...

Actually, Larry Bird's daughter wasn't illegitimate. He was married young to Janet Condra and that is when Corey was born. You are correct that he never visitedt or supported her, and for that he is wrong. But, he was married to her mother. Yes there are plenty of players to judge for their lifestyles. Kobe is a good player, but his attitude and ego just make it very hard to like him.
      • Tell me something. If you put in all the hours of hard work he has and go out and play as well as he does and then get scrutinized becasue of your personal life would you be a little pissed off too? Im from Philadelphia and I like the guy. He's a hell of an athlete and one of the hardest workers in the NBA. Many players would be content with what he has accomplished in his career and would have just become average players but kobe is a perfectionist on the court and you can't fault him for that. If you were in the spotlight like he is I'm sure you would have imperfections too
  • I guess if your looking for a reason to hate it is as good as any.
  • LOL. Ignorance is bliss. Wade and Lebron made the exact same comments but you hate on Kobe for doing it? Stop the blind hate. More proof that just because you have a mouth doesn't mean your baseless opinions should be publish on the net.
    • citymang
I don't agree with the tone in this article, but as far as I can remember, Lebron has pretty much been a perfect citizen. The closest thing to controversy has been Lebron comparing Deshawn Stevenson to Soulja Boy ... which he apologized for, then DANCED THE SOULJA BOY DANCE!

So far, he's been a great role model. Let's hope I don't have to eat my words. I watch basketball for basketball, not drama.
      • The_Truth
Right hes not cocky for comparing himself to a legend. Jay Z hahahaha
  • Dude your writing is wack! I could accuse you of rape and look for a payday but that doesn't make you a rapist. Last year Kobe took the Lakers and forced them to make trades and become a champion contender. As for moving to Europe, dude, you dumb as hell. Kobe entertains that talk because he has millions in endorsements and has to play the game to nor insult European fans. Nike alone which he owns a piece of action would be devastated if he just said no. Get a brain before you write your wack bull s--t

Good post, even though I am pro-Kobe. I do find it interesting you don't mention Lebron's or Wade's apparent interest in playing overseas...
  • iggles422
If LA fans had a trade proposal from Cleveland to straight up swap Kobe for LeBron. they would... He is arguably an equal athlete, he is just as entertainingenuity on the court(style wise), but most importantly, he isn't a freaking cookie cutter/bland superstar...
LeBron has something that Kobe will never have; Personality....
he may not have as much as Arenas(he is in my opinion, our generation's Penny Hardaway) but he relates to the fans...
he wants to show us what he is, just a guy with a whole hell of alot of basketball skill, who loves life...
So I "hate" Kobe, because he isn't doing what we(the fans) ask...
we want a superstar who is aware of the fact that the NBA fans are idiots; we know you guys just want to get paid, LeBronchi understands that, and he wants the fans to get there money's worth at ALL times(on and off the court)
Kobe has an "old school" mind-set, he thinks fans just want championships(so anything he does will be forgiven, as long as the general opinion is still that "Kobe wants to win more the anyone else").... no, thats not true, I wanna be entertained,..
The NBA isn't just "X's and O's".... This is proven with the fact that the general worst case senario is "Spurs vs. Pistons" in the finals, and the fact that no one can deny being in love with the Golden State Warriors(the classic example of a entertaining team that understands that they win games, but the word "play-offs" and them, just don't sound right)
LeBron wants to put on a show, and it seems like Kobe wants to show us a distraction...

In regards to Kamen playing for germany-i believe in the article i read about him that his grandparents were german-so there is some connection. But even if they arent who cares. Athletes do it all the time-though usually they arent as high profile as Kamen is. He was only considered an outside shot to make the next US team.

NBA needs Kobe. NBA would NOT be the same without him. Just his presence makes him special. Hes the number one athlete in America that people like you guys love to hate yet hes still #1 most loved. Haters may not admit it but if they flip to a channel where Kobes playing they will watch.

  • what has kobe ever done to u guys. some of u guys brains must of shut down after he was accuse of rape cuz frm what i remember he was proven innocent. 2nd of all kobe wasnt the only one who said they wud go play overseas lebron and wade said it as well. 3rd i wud love and hate, if the world most talented basketball player left the nba it wudnt be the same its like if jordan left when he was 30 p.s im not comparing kb24 to mj23 im juss using mj becuz he was the most talented ball player of his time. i wud love if kobe leaves so the media can come off his back but knowin the media they wont they wud juss find sumthin new to put on him but i wud laugh if all these haters miss him. 4th i juss hope if kobe leaves or when he retires they juss dnt started finding stupidness on my 2nd fav player lebron james ye kobe is my first. and iggles422 f.y.i ima La Fan and i wouldnt trade kobe for lebron no one will. p.s they shudnt let kobe haters write about kobe they will juss write bad about him

    • iggles422
Now I know you're stupid... You wouldn't trade Kobe for LeBron? Why, that makes ZERO sense... LeBron is 23 freakin years old... Kobe is pushing 30+... Its a proven fact that athletes are always on the decline once they hit 30... LeBron is still learning the game (like practiceing 3's) and he's not even near his full potential....

Jeazzz, I'd love to see you become the G.M. of the Lakers, they'd sink faster then the Titanic....
      • The_Truth
I would trade Kobe for Lebron because of their age difference BUT Kobe is better than Lebron. Kobes been the best for the past three years going on four.

Kobe is in his prime still, and will be for 3 more years atleast. He is going to be that guy who puts up 20 plus and 5 assists a game. I would not trade kobe either. WE love Kobe. Get over it! You are stupid for thinking that we would trade the face of our franchise for another great player. WHy not keep it the same? Who went to the NBA finals last year? Kobe or Lebron?
    • iggles422
so, essentially are you comparing LeBron's and Kobe's supporting cast as equals?

I'd take Odom, Gasol, Bynum, Walton, Fisher, Sasha, and Ronnie any day over Z, Wallace, West, Wally, and Booby.... in a heartbeat...

Whats worse is that everyone knows Kobe has a better cast, and while LeBron says he'd like to see more talent on his team, he certainly didn't make videos for Youtube, wishing for his team mates to be traded(Buynm, to be exact)

Hence why Kobe is gay, and LeBron gets it...
      • WaltonsWisdom
At least include the part about Lebron playing in the East and Kobe playing in the West. If Lebron played with his Cavs in the West, they'd struggle to get the #8 playoff spot. Sure, Kobe has a MUCH better supporting cast, but the east (outside of Detroit & Boston) has been absolute garbage these past few years.
        • iggles422
Come on baby, youre better then that!

don't give me that sad arguement...

Take away Gasol last season, a Kobe would have dragged his team, kicking and screaming to 45ish wins, just as his has done the past 3-4 seasons.... now put LeBron and his Cavs where Kobe is, he could irk by with they same amount of wins...

          and heres why...

The WEST wins, but they are SOFTER then cookie dough...

This is a FACT... It was proven to its highest extent when the best EASTERN style team (BOSTON) had a 6 game sweep of the best WEST style team(LAKERS).... The WEST "thinks" they know how to play defense, but (other then the ROCKETS and SPURS) they can't...

and a farther example to my point of view is two of the west teams, The WARRIORS and NUGGETS... they are the best example of what the WEST philosophy of how to play basketball.... Defense in the form of offense...

        • WaltonsWisdom
I hear ya, but Boston this year was an aberration. The year before, Lebron's "miraculous" run was pancaked 4-0 by the Spurs. The Cavs won the east, and they looked like a disgrace in the finals.

I've said it before -- the East had the best team in the NBA this season, without a doubt. But there are way more teams in the East that are horrible, so your season wins total would naturally be higher if you played against those teams 3-4 times a year instead of 1-2. ATLANTA made the playoffs with like 39 or 40 wins -- enough said.
        • WaltonsWisdom
P.S. Denver got the 8th seed and was manhandled 4-0 in the first round, and the Warriors didn't even make the playoffs. I know what you're saying about the softness that was on full display in the finals, but the overall skill level isn't even close. Just look at the balance of "stars" in the west vs. the east. This offseason shifted some of the power east, so hopefully it will be a little more balanced going forward.
      • theoneandonly
        Placard_complete_small
Did Bynum play last year? Is Fisher not old as hell? Hell yea I love Odom and Gasol. Other than that we just had a bunch of guys step up. No body said that the Cavs supporting cast could not do the same did they? You can feel sorry all you want for Lebron. That isnt going to change anything. i love Lebron, but quit with the pity party. Lebron also played in a much weaker East division.
  • SportsCucumber
I would take LeBron over Kobe in a heartbeat.
  • iggles422
Don't tell me about the Spurs....

I just listed them as one of only two teams in the west who can play defense and isn't soft....

The cavs essentially played another East team.... Because the Spurs have a east mindset...

Just because the east has a more evened out teams, doesn't make them better then the East...

Did you ever think, the Hawks only got 39 wins, because they had to play the East so much?

and yes, I'm aware that the West as a hole had a better record against the East as a whole...

but I'll say is, Which style has won more championships as of late (and if you count the Spurs wins in the West total, you have to at least acknowledge that they aren't like the rest of the West; just like the 76'ers aren't like the rest of the East)
  • iggles422

  • iggles422 u need a life baadd. 2nd u say take away gasol and kobe wud hav dragged his team down well ur forgettin bynum if he didnt get injured they wouldnt of gotten gasol and wen bynum went down he was playin the lakers were one of the best team in the west. and lastly im sure if u switch lebron and kobe caviliers wud hav ATLEAST been in third seat and lakers wud still be in first place dependin if gasol still came over and bymun got injured. like get it through ur thick skull kobe is better than lebron wat lebron has over kobe is age and athleticsim and as much as i hate it lebron might not even get a title anytime soon becuz of upcomin teams like new orleans with chris paul miami heat (i heard pat riley wants to get bosh and with a tri with wade and beasly thats dangerious) and dnt forget portland they may be young but in a year or two they ganna be very dangerous. by the way boston aint winnin no more champianships there done.
  • iggles422
Learn to spell Youngone, before "u" criticize me...

If the Lakers were in the east they would be the 3 seed.... that sums it all up...

just because the bottom is just the absolute worst in the East, doesn't discount seeds 1-4... and the Cavs...

The Timberwolves don't get the credit of there being 8 50+ win teams, and yet, you think you can argue the opposite for the East...

You just need to stop believingenuity in Kobe's hype... He isn't Jordan (and I say that not even liking Jordan that much)

Im not even a big LeBron fan, I'm a Paul Pierce fan. I just tell Kobe fans that LeBron because I live in southern cali, and I hate the Lakers...

  • mitressehc
    Placard_complete_small
I think LeBron is more of an ambassador of his sport. He takes everything in stride and does not let the media know everytime he has a problem with management or the players surrounding him. The thing with Kobe is his arrogance. His talent level is far above almost any other player in the league except LeBron, who at his age is carrying his team. Kobe never had to that when he was younger because he had the best center in the game at the time. He does have 3 rings, but how many does he have since he has been the man? Exactly. LeBron has came just as close but with a far less superior supporting cast. So say what you will when it is all said and done the legacy Kobe might leave in the NBA will always be overshadowed by what LeBron will be doing after he is gone.

I would love it if Kobe would go to Europe - but only because that would mean he wouldn't have to play against the W's.
People should not look to athletes to be thier role model. They are humans too.
I'm sure there are 10 ppl that you come into contact with throughout the day that are as big of a jerk as him but you don't care because this guy is a bus driver or something. He is just under more scrutiny because he is living "the life".
    • iggles422
screw that.... the bus driver pull down 30k's a year... if that.... Kobe got like 23mil..... Don't say that....

Im with you... They don't have to be a role model... look at charles barkley... I love the guy, cause he's honest... he didn't want to be a role model... and he isn't... he's just a guy you wanna talk to... that simple...

Kobe seemed to want to be a "role model"

now it blew up in his face.... and not fans and the media will rub that in his face....

      ha
      • GSWgirl
        Placard_complete_small
I hear you - my point is just that - no one cares if the bus driver is a jerk cause no one envys him,
Kobe will be under the microscope because people feel like he owes them something. I'm not saying I like the guy - I just respect what he does on the court. If he isn't hurting anyone off the court - that should be enough. He shouldn't have to do mass amounts of charity work. Of course that would be great if he did and I appreciate the ones who do - but that is not what he is getting paid for.
  • iggles422
He's not getting paid to just win games...

    hes there to entertain you

as a Golden State Warriors fan, you should know what I mean, which is why you aren't a Spurs fan.... a team built for "winning" but not very "fun" to watch...

Sorry for not being enthused(and to an extent; not entertained) by an arrogant prick... I just don't wanna see him succeed... so when does win (which before as of before late, wasn't very often; which pleased me alot) Im not "entertained".... Im pissed and saddened that people like that are paid and encouraged to be like that...

which is why, i picked to side with LeBron, when i heard of the fan feud...

    he isn't an arrogant dick
    • GSWgirl
      Placard_complete_small
wow - you really don't like him do you?
  • Right ! Lebron has a large tattoo that says the " Chosen One " but he's not arrogant.

I don't really have a problem with arrogant athletes Most excellent athletes usually are and I like the swagger in them.

For those of you that hate a man you don't even know, I think it says more about you than the athlete.
