Pro Skills Basketball:
It was a one of the rougher weekends of any player in the NCAA tournament. According this article players who already seem to be qualified for the top of the coming draft:1. Ty Lawson, PG, North Carolina
Lawson hadn't played since March 8 because of a toe injury, but he returned against LSU with 23 points on 7-for-13 shooting, plus six assists. It was an impressive performance, showing toughness and leadership. In a draft class short on point guards, Lawson has a chance to move himself.
2. Terrence Williams, SG, Louisville
Williams is a senior with a reputation among scouts as more of an athlete than a basketball player,. His 24-point, 15-rebound performance against Siena was one of the best of any player in the tournament, and he's shot 7-for-13 on 3s.
3. A.J. Price, PG, Connecticut
Scouts like his size and pure talent, and a good tournament could give him some momentum. In the first two games of the tourney, he's averaged 23.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists, shooting 9-for-18 on 3-pointers.
4. Chase Budinger, SG, Arizona
Budinger played 79 of the Wildcats' 80 minutes in the first two games, and scored 20 points with eight rebounds and six assists in the upset over Utah. His game is built on versatility, and he's put that on display. A big outing against Louisville (especially from the 3-point line.
5. Sam Young, SF, Pitt
Young's 14 points and 13 rebounds in the opening round were impressive, as was his 4-for-6 shooting from the 3-point line. But against Oklahoma State, he notched 32 points and eight rebounds. Young is a senior, and though scouts question his shooting stroke, he’s dominating with his athleticism.
6. Tyreke Evans, PG/SG, Memphis
Coach Calipari put the ball in his hands by making him Memphis' point guard. At 6-6, it's doubtful that Evans will be a point guard at the NBA level, but the potential is there. Even if he is not a true point guard, he is only 19 and figures to make an outstanding combo guard. He finished with 15 points and five assists in the Tigers' opening-round win, followed by 19 points and five assists in Round 2 against Maryland.

7. Jonny Flynn, PG, Syracuse
His shot is inconsistent, his drives to the basket are often wild, and, playing in Syracuse's zone, no one can be quite sure what to make of his defense. But Flynn is quick, tough and an outstanding playmaker in a draft that appears long on combo guards but lacking in true point men. Only a sophomore, Flynn said he will return to school, where he'll be able to hone his shot and his decision-making. He had seven assists and just two turnovers in the win over Arizona State, but had seven assists and seven turnovers in the Orangemen's opener.

Jeff Goodman? Ty Lawson will accept your apology now.
It was a gutty effort from a player much maligned for his toughness. I imagine that will never happen again. Ty Lawson came out in the 2nd half after exhibiting some rust and dealing with pain, to score 21 of his 23 points carrying the Heels at a point when LSU was making a run. Lawson hit two threes...

Ty Lawson's foot injury resurfaced in UNC's win over LSU, but it didn't stop him from lifting the Tar Heels, Jeff Goodman says.

The Tiger That Devoured Maryland; Memphis Wins in Rout 89-70

A Final Word On Jeff Goodman
I ran across Jeff Goodman’s follow-up to his cheap shot at Ty Lawson. Witness, if you care to, Goodman maintain his absurd attack with an even more absurd justification:
Lawson didn’t just display a resilience (which was not questioned solely by me, but by others within the Tar Heels program as well). He also showed why he was the ACC Player of the Year and the key...

Siena's run ends
Not many people had Siena advancing past Ohio State, but when they took on Louisville Sunday afternoon, the number decreased substantially. Louisville, the one seed, was the big time favorite when they took on the Saints. But, for Siena, they had nothing to lose, and they gave it all they had. The Saints held their own in the first half and competed with the Cardinals the best they...

A good tourney so far for the Big East. The conference has proven that it is the best in the nation by still having five teams in the tourney. Ellington, Green, and Lawson
The three plays that broke the Tigers’ back. First up, Ty Lawson on the break gets the layup to fall and one giving UNC a 67-63 lead. The next play down Danny Green misses a three but Wayne Ellington tracks the ball down in the corner and tips it out to Green who drills the 2nd attempt to give UNC a seven point edge. The Heels concluded the run with Lawson nearly breaking...
College Point Guards
Across college basketball, names like DJ Augustin, Darren Collison and Ty Lawson receive most of the attention. However, I'm not sure I'd take any of the three over Kentucky's Ramel Bradley for my college program.
I'm not a Kentucky fan. However, Kentucky is always on television, so maybe Bradley ha...
Why Cinderella died in March Madness 2009 | MAD BALLIN'
Have you been seen the March Madness bracket for the Sweet 16? To make a long story short, there is exactly one single mid-major team, Gonzaga, left in the field. And with their perennial big-time success since 1999, it's debatable if Gonzaga is still a mid-major.Basically, the NCAA Tournament has slaughtered Cinderella : Of the 16 teams competing in the third round, only Purdue...
