The Sixers offseason just keeps getting better and better. The Sixers started off by adding a star player in Elton Brand, then they went out and signed several complementary players before re-signing two key players already on the team, Andre Iguodala and Louis Williams. Now, the Sixers have added another free agent who can help this team take the next step, 35 year old forward Donyell Marshall. Marshall gives the Sixers another threat from outside, something they have been searching for e...

Great move, if he's still effective. He gives them another option from outside, he can still hit the open three.

i think this is a very great move. We keep adding role players to the roster to help out the two andre's, and elton. This is the outside threat that we needed to put us over the top!

Not since Larry Brown traded away most of our youth and depth for...DIKEMBE MUTOMBO!!!!! I still hate Larry for that.

The Sixers traded Theo Ratliff, Toni Kukoc, Nazr Mohammed and Pepe Sanchez for Dikembe Mutombo. Tell me which of those guys would have helped the Sixers? Where is the "youth and depth" that Larry Brown traded?

they don't need to cut or trade anyone to get the roster down to 12. You can have 15 players under contract during the season - only 12 can be active.

True, but I guess they have to fake injuries. The point is, who doesn't suit up? Ivey? Or do they trade Green?

        They trade Green

He is an average shooter on a team who just got revamped with shooters so his role on the team has diminished

The rest of the league regards him as a young player with some talent so I am sure Stefanski can work out a trade that can hopefully land us a decent draft pick

I agree. They have too many guards who can shoot and play defense, two things Green isn't particularly good at. Trade him for a pick.

I just hope the team is as solid as they were at the end of last year, if thats the case its going to be one exciting season. and hopefully some more enthusiastic fans in the playoffs cause it was kinda dead last year

Shavlik Randolf better not get cut

Randolph already was cut, his rights were renounced to make room for Elton Brand's contract, making him a free agent. They don't need him anyway.

Ed Stefanski seems to have put the sixers in a great position to succeed for the next few years

The guy is amazing, every player that he wants on his team he will be able to get
  • D.M. was like B.M. with the Cavs. He play much with the 6er's

I love this signing. I can't believe I'm saying this, but on paper at least, the Sixers can actually contend this year. Wow. And for a long time it looks like. Only team that is far and away better than us in the east is Boston, and in a seven game series who knows what will happen. Detroit is equal maybe slightly better, Cleveland could be trouble...but I don't think it matters.

i'm not so sure boston is "far and away better than us." we beat them late in the season if I recall and every game we played against them we were pretty competitive. now that they are getting older and lost some key players they may not have the eastern conference as securely as they did last year.

this is so great, adding a guy like him is huge, that will take the place of jason smith who will miss the year with a injury, now we got evans and marshall, ratliff, thats really good
  • EAGLESxFAN1933
great deal. i cant wait for the season to start. we need outside shooters and this guy has been to the playoffs at least 10 times.

Actually, remarkably, Marshall has only made the playoffs 4 times in his 15 year career. He made it twice with the Jazz and twice with the Cavs and that's it. He' been on some baaaaad teams in his career.
      • EAGLESxFAN1933
oh ok. i thought he went like ten times, my bad...
