Sixers come from behind to shock Pistons

The never-say-die Sixers, who have routinely made double digit comebacks this season, pulled off the biggest upset so far of the NBA Playoffs, knocking off the Detroit Pistons 90-86 despite trailing by 15 points as late as the halfway point of the third quarter.

Most experts didn't give the Sixers a chance in this series, and through the first two and a half quarters of the game, everything went according to plan for Detroit. The Sixers never gave up, and went on a 10-0 run in the third quarter to claw their way back in the game. The Sixers continued to fight back until Reggie Evans hit two free throws with 5 minutes left in the game that gave them a lead that they never relinquished. The Pistons had their chances to salvage a win, but Chauncey Billups, normally known as Mr. Clutch, struggled to make free throws down the stretch and the Sixers defense clamped down to make the necessary stops.

Teams that don't play their "A" game from 48 minutes will pay the price against this young, upstart Sixers team.

You said that right the pistons played like crap they allowed the sixers to make a run they played like they already had the championship!

Hey Rasheed, This is Billy Sims, Former Detroit Lion, 1978 Heisman Trophy Winner. I'm with a group of businessmen who have put together a deal to expand casino gaming in Michigan. We want to talk about your possible ownership in the fourth casino for Detroit. You'll be glad you did. Give me a call. (810) 299-1510

I'am one to say when Iverson left I thought we would be in the basement for years....well HELLO Master BEDROOM....Cheeks is the truth and we can upset the Pistons. I really feel we can go as far as both Andre's lead us.

all credit due to the Sixers who stepped it up, but the Pistons let them back in the game. Where's all that playoff experience now? Home court advantage, gone. Just like that.

pistons said at halftime oh we got this and it cost them the game

Joking and kidding around before the game cost the Pistons. If a team is in the playoffs, you have to give them a little respect. Now , they may be in a war.

worst thing an athlete can do is underestimate thei opponent-billie jean king

You knew they were going to take at least one game. I think they got a little relaxed when the lead ballooned to 12. Look for The Pistons to be one game wiser in Game 2.

I love this team. They always comeback when it looks like they are dead. I KNOW the sixers have a shot to win this series. I know it.

This will definitely not be an upset. The Pistons just played down the level of competition like they always do. They will step it up in the next game for sure. The Sixers beating the Pistons in the series...Yea Thats Likely!?!?! The Sixers even know they won't win the series. Are you Kidding me???

You can't underestimate the Sixers. That's exactly what they want you to do

i agree completely. i think they're more of a force to be reckoned with than the pistons expected. pistons mistake.

wait a second.....lebron single handedly took the "dont play hard till we have to" team down just a year ago

The Sixers know they won't win? You win for dumbest statement of the day. Look at the season series with these guys, especially games late in the season, we've had Detroit's number...even the games we lost were close. AI didn't play a great game...in fact the Sixers didn't play that great of a game but they did what they had to do to win. Home court advantage is gone, can't wait til they come to Philly.

I know i was so excited yesterday me and my cousion were arguing as to who would win this game i like sixers he likes pistons and i told him they will win if not they will win in over time.....

I told my friend from church cuz he had doubts that the sixers werent going to make it far against this team i told him dont be surprised if the Sixers Either sweep the Pistons or take them to six games into the Series and sixers win 4-2.....

Go Sixers they will surprise alot of people they might be like the underdog Giants..... u never know

I said if they played the Magic, they had a chance, but they beat the Pistons and take homecourt. Can't wait for Game 2.

so rcs do u think the magis will be an obstacle for the sixers or it will be easier game for us

Let's take this one game at a time, but the Sixers match-up a little better with the Magic

If the Sixers played the Magic, their role players would have to step up just like last night. Thaddeus Young, Willie Green and Reggie Evans all had a great night. I'm not sure if they could stop Dwight Howard, but if they can take out Hedo, Rashard and especially if Andre Miller shuts down Jameer Nelson, they can take them.

They match up great against Detoit, because of their size and the Sixers guards can cover Detroits. It'll be a great series. The Sixers in six, because if it goes seven back in Detroit that'll be tough. The team looks great now and into the future, the more playoff experience they get, the better.

You can never count those guys out. They have tremendous young talent with veterans in the right positions. Flip did play his bench players far too long and I doubt we'll be so fortunate in later games. But hey, SHOCK is a common thing in Detroit...ask their women...

is Charles Barkely back on the sixers? what the f is going on?!?!

i know this is a long shot but i can see the sixers vs boston for the Confrence Championship... if they pull of a win against boston u best believe they will win the nba champions i know its a long shot lol i hope so

hahaha lets not get ahead of ourselves man. IF that were to happen we better hope that the Western Champ got beat up in their far superior conference games...the only reason Miami won their championship.

I thought the East wouldn't have any upsets.
Thank you Sixers for making this a bit more interesting.

Detroit got A.I. playing a terrible game. Turn overs, airballs, missed dunks etc...and they still lost. Iggy will get it going as will Miller have a complete game (remember - only turned it on in the second half). The series will be long but don't assume Detroit wins it. The Sixers played them tough all season long and last time I checked they won one title years ago and have shown that they are human. The sixers have ZERO pressure on themselves and ZERO experience compared to Detroit which makes them that more intriguing. Watch out.....

SHOCK THE WORLD!

DOWN GOES FRAZIER!

This is the match up I wanted after Cleveland was out of the picture. The Pistons are a bunch of old men who will get worse as the series goes on. The Sixers??? Talk about a young team with some moxy.

SLAY THE GIANT!

haha these aren't exactly the Pistons of old though...the only giant in the East is Boston...well and Dwight Howard

I fear that the Sixers are going to get blown out in Game Two. This could be just the wake-up call the Pistons needed

I fear that the Sixers are going to get blown out in Game Two. This could be just the wake-up call the Pistons needed

The sixers have better guards, than pistons, the x factor young legggs---I do not see a blow out in game two--they woke up the young sixers--hungry----little mo,told big mo---not fo! fo! sixers in six THE SHOCKER --- FLIP SAUNDERS,CAN'T COACH GOOD PLAYERS

Honestly, I didn't think Philadelphia could pull it off. Even though they won by a small margin a win is considered a win. But....I believe Detroit will win the next 4 games.

C-Billups, Rip, and Sheed are going to blow the sixers out by 15-20 points!!!! Guaransheed!!!!

The Sixers will surprise u guys again at home on friday because the Pistons are cocky and still think they got this series all in the bag...

Well spoiler alert the series will go to series 6 with the Sixers winning it 4-2 watch or similar to that go sixers

So glad they didnt trade Andre Miller this season like they were rumored to. I hope they keep him for quite a bit, even though hes 32. This season has possibly been the best in his career.

i love andre miller, but, say if some team like the clippers were offering a lottery pick do you take it. I would jump on that offer or anyother offer. sixers core is too young for miller to realisticly help them out now. By the time lou and thadeus get to there prime , miller will be out the door. Iggy is only 24, i give him one more season till he is a domintae allstar in the league. So with all that factored in, miller i love you but good bye.

only if they hold the #1 and we can take Rose...sorry but you need an offensive minded PG in this league

omg i cant belive the pistons lost to the sixers there a good team i aint going to lie but i really like the pistons there an awsome team they can play but come on detroit you have a way better team and you deserve it omg if they make it to the celtics thats going to be on of the good series thats gonna be hard to choose between come on pistons lets go and beat them sixers

Believe it...we've beat the Pistons the past 3 times we've played em
