Stevenson's hard foul on LeBron worst of the Playoffs

The NBA Playoffs have been a physical matchup all around, with Jason Kidd and Brendan Haywood getting called for a Flagrant 2, but DeShawn Stevenson's foul of LeBron was easily the most flagrant of the bunch. He's clearly not going to get the block, but he swings anyway, with his forearm and hits LeBron right in the head. Coupled with the talk that has been exchanged by the two and the maliciousness of the hit, Stevenson was out of line.

They were both pretty hard. Maybe LeBron was a tad bit worse, but I think Kidd's foul was right up there in severity.

I don't know...I've seen this type of play end in a block hundreds of times. Given the history between the two, I understand the concern.

I'm lovin the fact that there is a heated rivalry finally emerging in the NBA.

Professional sports has always been lacking in the rivalry category... this one is heating up fast.

This is not a rivalry. A rivalry is when two teams repeatedly beat one another, not just when two teams don't like one another. The Cavs have destroyed the Wizards 3 years in row and will wrap this series up in the next game. Washington can't stop LeBron and won't come back from 3-1 and upset the Cavs. True, they hate eachother, but this is very very far from a true "rivalry".

So OSU-Michigan isn't a rivalry anymore becuase OSU has won 5 in a row???

I can name plenty of rivalries that are pretty one-sided. The Backyard Brawl went to Pitt this year but usually goes to WV.... LSU-Tulane.... Nebraska- Colorado.... Florida- Florida State (has been pretty one sided for a while now).

Are these games no longer rivalries now?

True the playoff series haven't been very even, but the season series have been. When I think of a rivalry I think of mutual hatred for one another and teams stepping up their game to a whole new level simply because of their opponent.

Now I'm not saying this will live on for ages.... few pro sports rivalries do. But I would call this one of the only rivalries in the East right now. East teams just don't play with the fire that West teams do when they play in-conference games.

Well said, Shady.

If you looked up the word "hater" in the dictionary, DeShawn Stevenson's picture would be right next to it. He is something else...

Yea, its like he just doesn't get it. He's nowhere near LeBron's level but swears that he is. He's crazy!

oowee! that was ugly.
Doesn't Stevenson know what happens when you rile up Lebron?
Don't get that boy mad, DeShawn!

I predicted it when he first mouthed off. I'm just waiting for LeBron to mouth "It's your fault" to Deshawn.

Check out the Wiz putting thier money where thier mouth is!
