Suns Coaching Search

Steve Kerr has said that he is going to take his time in hiring a new coach. So it's a perfect time for us to postulate as to who he might hire, and more importantly who we want him to hire.

Here are some names that have surfaced from different papers around the country (In no particular order) or who are available. Kerr has said that it will be a name with lots of experience so that should cut down this list a bit.

Kurt Rambis (Lakers asst and former head coach 24-13 record)

Vinny Del Negro (former Suns player)

Tyrone Corbin (UT assistant)

Paul Westphal (former head coach)

Paul Silas (former head coach)

Byron Scott (current NO head coach)

Avery Johnson (former Dallas head coach)

Sam Vincent (former Bobcats head coach)

Dan Majerle (former Suns player)

Flip Saunders (Detroit head coach)

Mark Jackson (Former player

Jeff Van Gundy (Former coach)

Who do you think is the best fit for the Suns? Someone off this list or someone totally different? I think Avery Johnson would be a good hire, but seeing as he hasn't already, it probably wont happen.

Steve Kerr did a recent interview and it sounds like there is a very good chance of Eddie Johnson and Dan Majerle teaming up, with EJ as head coach, Majerle as his assistant.

I've also heard Tom Thibodeau's name thrown out there a few times.

We'll see what happens.

How about Dick Davey? I hear he needs a job.

I think he is the new AARP spokesman

Ah, yes. Bring in the guy that first discovered Steve Nash. He's not that old. I mean, Jerry West hired Hubie Brown, didn't he? Hubie Brown was older than Dick Davey is now! :-D

Avery Johnson????

I don't think Avery is the right fit for Phoenix.

I like him alot, I think he's a great coach but he just isn't what we're looking for.
In my opinion.

Thats a good point.

IsiahThomas??? Lol

If you mean Avery is not a good fit because he is more defensive minded and your team constantly gets beat for not playing defense then yeah Avery is a horrible fit. Sorry to have to be the on to tell you this Sun fan but sine you traded for Shaq you have to change your style to a more half court defensive mindset and Avery would be the man for that. With Shaq you can't play that up and down game you are accustomed to. That is why D'Antoni left cause he is a up and down coach that is going to play a run and gun offense. Either go defense or blow it up. You are done Suns.
