I don't get why everyone is so amazed by the Dwight Howard Superman non-dunk. He just threw it in. Yeah, he got up, but Green's dunk was far more impressive.

Dwight Howards Superman Dunk, should it have counted? You be the Judge
So Here it is from a couple angles. It looks like a layup that was thrown in. Granted it was cool, but in sure and hell was no dunk. The Height and speed he had he could have pulled it off. Don't Know why he didn't, maybe he just got excited.
You be the judge, should it have counted. It was bad ass and he sure could have pulled it off, but he did not even touch the rim.
2008 Slam Dunk Contest: Dwight Howard Superman Dunk
Normally I'm not a fan of Superman at all. I'm more of a Batman kinda guy myself but I'll make an exception in this case. Dwight Howard's performance as Superman will go down as one of the most creative dunks in Slam Dunk championship history and it was sick. It locked him in as the Slam Dunk Champion.
NBA: (video) 2008 NBA Slam Dunk contest best dunks
Dwight Howard won last nights 2008 NBA Slam Dunk contest, defeating defending champion Gerald Green in the finals. I posted videos of the two best dunks (or at least most entertaining) and a video of all of the dunks from the final round below.
Vin Baker Update
For those of you wishing for good news, wishful thinking. Looks like another former star athlete has fallen on hard times financially. The good thing is that Baker's weight and alcohol problems may improve since he can't afford to binge. I feel bad for the guy and hope he can pull out of this funk.
Superman dunk!!!!!!!!
CREATIVITY!
Creativity was the main theme in the 2008 NBA dunk contest. Gerald Green did a birthday cake dunk and dunked with no shoes. However, SUPERMAN Dwight Howard flew in and swept the New Orleans crowd off their feet. The 6-11 athletic big man from Orlando took off his Magic jersey to reveal his Superman shirt, and wore a red cape as he thundered down a flying jam to secure the win .
Superman is in the building
"We gotta check in that cape and see if there's some helium in there."
Dwight Howard's Superman routine stole the show at the NBA Slam Dunk contest. Magic Johnson loved it. Kenny Smith loved it. The whole crowd loved it. But it probably wasn't even his best dunk, and technically it wasn't even a dunk because he never touched the rim. That didn't...
NBA Slam Dunk Contest is BACK!
Wow, what a fun night of entertainment. I love All Star Weekend. But as always the highlight of All Star Weekends is the Slam Dunk contest. Rudy kind of was a dud, and Moon got knocked out as well after the first round. But Dwight Howard was a man on a mission. His first dunk was insane he busted out an off the backside of the backboard dunk in the first round to hit a perfect score...
The 2008 NBA Dunk Contest Soars
Last night we saw creativity, showmanship and theatrics to last us for many years to come. When the smoke cleared, the biggest man in the competition, Dwight "Superman" Howard, emerged victorious. The last big man to have the same explosiveness and hops as Howard used to be my personal favorite player in the league, Shawn Kemp, before drugs, alcohol and baby mommas took over his life.
ASW: Slam Dunk contest videos
Videos of this past dunk contest. Will post more as they come in. First up is Dwight Howard's Superman dunk!

The Worst of NBA All-Star Weekend
Another NBA All-Star weekend has come and gone. It was a pretty good weekend overall, but there was some bad mixed in with all the greatness including some bad judging and one ugly ass 'kidd'.
Random Thoughts 2/17
Some random thoughts on Doc's coaching, the East practice, the slam dunk contest, the state of the bigs in today's game, Rondo in the Skills Contest, the 3 point Shootout, the Bibby trade, and Ray Allen and KG in New Orleans.
