while we wait a while for those two roster spots to be filled and the Season to start and while my amigo and also arch nemesis Micheal Malcolm decides to name the best raptors squad ever. Why not do the complete opposite just to see if we can piss him off?
So, like mike's article we'll put the position, then the name, and why. While including honourable mentions. But, we'll see if we can't be a little bit creative with it as well. Let's get this started
At Starting Center he hails from Roseau, Dominica.
Center: Garth Joseph
While Joseph was said in his younger years to be the Next Shaquille O'neal and is often phyisically compared to the big diesel because of being 7'2" and 315 lbs. He turned out to just be compared a wooly mammoth(remind you of someone a.k.a Nathan Jawai). As he only played a total of four NBA games two with the Denver Nuggets and two with the Raptors during the 2000-01 NBA season.
Honourable mentions: Ed Stokes, Rafael Araujo, Robert Archibald, Will Cunningham, Oliver Miller, Jake Voskuhl.
He hails from New York State Prison...
Power Forward: Damone Brown
He was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the seond round of the 2001 Draft. For his career he played with the 76ers, Raptors, New Jersey Nets, and Washington Wizards. He will never again play in the NBA because he's terrible and he got arrested in Nevada for running a coke ring in Buffalo.
Honourable Mentions: Pape Sow, Maceo Baston, David Kornel, Nate Huffman, Art Long, Dwayne Whitfield.
At small forward, he is your favourite redneck...
Small Forward: Antonio Lang
Best known as part of that Duke team that won back-to-back championships in three Final four appearances back in 1991 and 1992. He graduated Leflore high school as valedictoiran in 1990 and the year before lead them to a state championship in basketball. A pretty impressive resume, he was selected 59th overall by the Phoenix Suns in 1994.
He was sidelined for most of his rookie season due to a knee injury and was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1995. He also had stints with the Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers, and Miami Heat.
Honurable Mentions: Chris Jefferies, Roy Rogers, P.J. Tucker.
He hails from L.A and he can act pretty good, earning him a spot on the Raptors roster by acting like he's actually a decent basketball player...
Shooting Guard: Hassan Adams
He played collegiately at Arizona University. Drafted in 2006 by the New Jersey Nets with the 54th overall pick. He was injured after P.J. Tucker stepped on his foot during pre-season games.
He played good in his rookie year as a Net. But, was waived in the summer of 2007, he appeared in the Cleveland Cavaliers pre-season games. But, was waived by the Cavs. He was picked up by the Raptors in the summer of 2008. But, played like **** for a year and was traded to the Clippers for Cash and a future Second Round pick.
Honourable Mentions: Micheal Willaims, Luke Jackson, Dion Glover, Derrick Dial, Hubert Davis, Carlos Arroyo.
He hails from the Windy City, and wind could actually beat him up...
Point Guard: Donald Whiteside
At 5'10, 160lbs Whitefield lasted not long anywhere. As he dissapeared of the face of the earth after 1993. During 1992 and 1993 he played for the Raptors, Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA and the Hobart Tassie Devils in the Australian NBL.
Honourable mentions: Marcus Banks, Will Solomon, Chris Garner, Haywoode Workman.
Just thinking about this lineup makes me throw up in my mouth a bit. I'm sure all these guys are good guys off the court (except for the guy who is in jail). But, they are terrible basketball players at a proffesional level.
But, I got to give props to my man Haywoode Workman realizing he was **** at playing and now is an active NBA referee. Good job! At least you found a way to continue being part of the game you love.
