Found June 11, 2008 on Fear the Beard:
I've been talking smack about how the finals matchup between the Lakers and Celtics was preordained. But my sources are pretty much, well, me. Now disgraced NBA referee Tim Donaghy has to go and pour kerosene on my little lantern in the form of the following quotables from the Washington Post. Jump for more.

Let it get away

If you were watching the game you know that I injured my ankle in the third quarter. It happened on a fast break and I rolled it. I think I may have stepped on someone's foot, but I still haven't seen the play. It's a different feeling than I've ever had. I've injured my ankle before but this one is unlike the others. The pain is on the inside of my foot. All...

Curt Schilling speaks his mind

Curt Schilling is never one to hold back his thoughts. And with his running blog over at 38pitches.com, he now has another means to express himself. If you have never read it, it is very entertaining and in my opinion the best athlete blog out there. Kudos to Gilbert Arenas, Chris Cooley and Greg Oden; but if you want to get into the mind of a sports figure Schilling does it like no other.

Want Some Cheese with that Whine?

The Lakers may be about to set a record for whining about the most things being against them in the Finals. It seems like every time I read an article there is something else that they are complaining about. The Lakers seem to feel that the universe is conspiring against them. It can't possibly be that the Celtics are just that good, or that the defense is disrupting their game....

Lakers Coach Cites Dennis Kucinich in Pre-Game Pep Talk

"Congress' littlest bastard has the biggest balls," said Phil Jackson, alluding to the Congressman's impeachment resolution. Departing from his usual hard-to-decipher parable-based pep-talks, the Zen Master gets political to motivate players.

Curt Schilling Blogs Kobe Bryant Under the Bus

Curt Schilling had courtside seats to Game 2 of the 2008 NBA Finals in Boston. He didn't really care for the way Kobe Bryant addressed his team in their losing effort, and shared his sentiments with the world.

NBA Insider: Jimmy Kimmel

A comical interview with Kobe Bryant. A Jimmy Kimmel stand-up set on the 2008 NBA finals. And a look at Amare Stoudemire accompanied by the worst sportscast crew ever.

Say It Ain't So!

I woke up today and turned on the TV as I usually do, when I heard the most terrifying news of the year. It was so horrific, I had to rewind the Tivo to make sure I was really awake and heard it correctly. Still thinking I heard it wrong, I called someone in to listen as I watched it a third time just to make sure. Well, I was told yes you heard that right, That's when I started...

Kobe Must Shoot 15 Free Throws for the Lakers to Win

Kobe has to shoot 15 Free throws in order for the Lakers to win. In the two games combined Kobe has shot 13 free throws the same number as Leon Powe! Kobe is working too hard on the perimeter to put up 25-30 points. Head fakes, pump fakes, back doors and playing in LA should help Kobe get to the line at least 15 times tonight.

PIERCE RETURNS TO HOLLYWOOD

Minute and twenty seconds remaining in the third quarter, Celtics up by 20 points, time-out Lakers. Kobe grabs a towel, looks toward the camera, and THERE IT IS; Kobe face.

Celtics comeback a foregone conclusion.

The Los Angeles Lakers had absolutely no idea what hit them, and the Celtics defense stepped in up late in the game, as Boston came back from 24 points down to win the game 97-91. This win was the biggest comeback in NBA playoff history after the 1st quarter.

Another L.A. Writer Takes On A Player From Boston

It was Plaschke calling out Pierce for overacting his knee injury last week and today it's TJ Simmers who has words for Curt Schilling. Schilling wrote a very interesting piece on Kobe after watching the L.A. guard courtside and Simmers decided to calmly disagree. Just kidding, he called him a "jerk of all trades" and "gutless"....Curt Schilling is gutless. He sits courtside in...

The 2002 Lakers-Kings Series Was Fixed

Posted on Ballhype earlier this afternoon was this little article by John Marziulli of the New York Daily News. It may seen relatively standard of the occasional Donaghy-related story we see every now and then, but something in particular caught my eye. Marziulli writes: Donaghy claims he was told that two refs who were "company men" acting in the interest of the NBA...

I Can't Take Another Boston Championship

Having to watch all those front running Celtics fans with their BRAND new #5 Kevin Garnett jerseys really makes me sick. More then half of those people wouldn't have gone to a Celtics game last year if you paid them. For all the whining Boston fans do they sure have been winning a lot and that really sucks for Philly fans. We hate seeing New York teams win , and I believe seeing...

Who Makes Team USA?

...But the real spotlight of the summer is shining on Jerry Colangelo, Coach K, and USA Basketball. The team that took no prisoners last summer is looking to regain the Olympic dominance that America surrendered in Athens in 2004. Last summer was most definitely an accomplishment, as the closest game was a 15-point "nail-biter" against Argentina. But before Team USA even touches the hardwood...

Game 3; The Hangover

Kevin Garnett & Paul Pierce shot a combined 8-28 from the floor and the Celtics were still in the position to tie the game up at 78 a piece with minutes remaining. Lamar Odom decided to show up in the fourth quarter, Sasha Vujacic (first time I've respected the man enough to call him by his name) drilled a coffin closing three ball, and what more can we say about Kobe?
