New York is supposed to be the "Mecca" of basketball. This is definitely not the case in 2009. The New Jersey Nets are the sole winless team in the NBA and the New York Knicks are tied for the 2nd worst record in league at 1-6. At a combined record of 1-13, New York basketball is already giving you a reason to think about the Mets and Yankees in spring training.

The Knicks felt good about losing Monday night. It's almost laughable, but that's the kind of crisis they had put themselves in before they took the Utah Jazz to the wire at the Garden. Before they showed some fight, the Knicks' approach to the season was to just get it over with.
