In the span of two weeks, Pau Gasol, Shaquille O'Neal, and Jason Kidd* have all been traded to the Western Conference. Many pundits assume that the latest two deals were made by the Suns and Mavs to counter the Lakers' big move. That may be true in part, but I see a bigger picture catalyst to all these deals. Teams are witnessing the success the Celtics have had in blending three star players together, and that has emboldened GMs to roll the dice and seek out that same winning strategy. *This trade has been held up by Devean George, but most still believe it will eventually go through.

the Pats lost folks, wasn't that good enough?

the Celtics don't deserve the carryover hate

My dislike of the Celts has nothing to do with the Pats and everything to do with Motor City.

hey, much respect due to the Pistons - we just want what you guys got (a ring)

should be a fun playoffs in the Eastern conference (even if the older stars seem to be leaving left and right)

Right back at you. It will be a great Conference Finals. Hopefully both Detroit and Boston are there.

The Celtics depth is highly, highly suspect and Bill Walton, Cedric Maxwell and Scott Wedman aren't walking through that door.

you mean limping through that door ;)

and the depth has gone 7-2 since KG went down to injury - not too shabby

Well, clearly the Leon Powe Show is good enough to beat Miami, Minnesota, the Clips, Indiana, the Knicks, the Spurs minus Parker and Dallas in February.

I'm not saying the C's aren't a championship caliber team, but considering first through tenth place teams in the West are separated by 8.5 games, those teams are most likely making moves to keep pace with each other, not Boston.

Not bad at all. The cream will rise to the top after the All-Start break. I think the Celts have a good shot, but like a lot of other people, I am still skeptical concerning the depth. Good luck.

I have to say that wasn't a very good article at all. Made a rather ambitious claim and had nothing to back it up. The 3-star argument is weak. And teams have always had "big threes". Actually the Suns gave away one of their big three to get the "Big 333"- I'm talking about pounds people.

I don't care what any of you say, but the Celtics got the idea from the Denver Nuggets! Anyone wanna argue, go ahead. You know I'm right. Let's see, we had Marcus Camby, best defensive player ever. Kevin Garnett is like him, tall, big, and can rebound. Then We got Carmelo Anthony, who is an amazing player. Big, yet quick and has a jump shot that he can bury from downtown. In turn, Paul Pierce is like him, who the Celtics acquired. Then, the Nuggs got Allen Iverson. 9 time All-Star, leading points score a few years, and by far one of the most talented players in the league, in history. Guess who I"m gonna say is like him? Ray Allen of course. He is the other guard the Celtics got. So let's recap. THe NUggets have an awesome center, a forward, and a guard, and guess what? The Celtics did the same freaking thing. So, as far as I'm concerned, and the facts tell it, the Nuggets started this trend, and not the pea green Celtics!

LOL, I really didn't think this article was all that controvercial. But ok.

May be controversial from a Western Conference point of view, seeing as how none of our teams can beat the Celts.

just say hello on a internet blog n there will b controversy...

Green with envy? Maybe for a year.... maybe even two. But after that... The Blazers will be the team in the league to envy. Oden, Aldridge, Roy, Rudy Fernandez, Outlaw, and more... Your guys should be ready for the old folks home and our guys will just be hitting their stride. But for right now, I do envy you.

Blazers have a good foundation of players. Once they put all together, they will be hard to compete with.
  • TAzz23
I agree with you guys. Blazers are gonna be a good team. Real good team. As of now, the Western conference is a tough place, the Nuggs are in 7th place in the conference, and are only 4 games back from 1st place. There is like .5 a game between the top 3 teams. It's rediculous
