This is not how it was supposed to go. The Cavs were destined to make the Finals and face the Lakers, with LeBron turning in a fantastic Game 7 performance in front of his loyal fans at the Q to bring the city of Cleveland its first championship since 1964. With a title already under his belt, and a few more on the horizon, he would happily re-up for another four or five seasons...

This is an interesting read. I wonder if the Cavs front office, players and fans would really overlook Boozer's past "transgressions" and resign him. He fits the bill for what they're looking for exactly. Athletic, strong inside presence, post player.

Call Vince Mcmahon and book the WWE for June.
  • I hope the cavs pull off a trade for Boozer. They will then insure that Lebron will leave the next year and make fot the biggeset free agent signing in the history of the league. Boozer looks like the right fit on paper but the guy is soft. As one of the "nucleus" of the jazz they have had the biggest disparity between home and away winns in the league. Looks to me that the Cavs need somebody that can help them win on the road. Boozer is not the answer. He sure isnt in utah and wouldnt be in Cleveland.
  • would shaq wanna be 9in cleveland

Yep...Over the past 2 years, Cleveland has turned down trades for Bibby & Shaq

Having a supporting cast that works is just as important as having the all-star. I didn't watch the cavs that close this year, but gibson and wally going from twenty minutes a game to none in the orlando series was a bad move. I mean really, west and williams didn't really prove that they were what the cavs needed before they became cavaliers, did they? It wasnt like cleveland got a KG....lol....LeBron may get a ring one year, but not with the cast he has now, or did the switch in rotations blow it???

Do you really take this to mean that he's decided to stay? If so, why wouldn't he say that he plans to sign the extension? I think he's just saying what he has to say so that people don't say that he's dodging the question. (Which he is.)

Or he isn't saying he is going to sign so he can negotiate for as much money as possible. If he says he is going to sign it lessens the leverage he has for a bigger contract. His quote on the cover says something about not having plans to go anywhere and that these fans have done everything for me. It might be that I am just being blind to what is really going on, but from as far as I can tell I don't think he's going anywhere. This seems to be more media driven than anything. Does my fandom get in the way of my reason at times? Yes. Maybe I should have learned from being a 49ers fan in the 80's when they lost Montana, Rice, Lott, Craig, and anyone else with any talent in the 90's. But the team drove them out, they didn't decide to leave. Maybe I should be more pessimistic........but I think LeBron is a different type of person.

I don't think money is the issue. He is going to get a max contract regardless of whether or not he signs an extension this summer, or opts out next summer and signs a max deal with the Cavs or someone else. The Cavs can offer him an extra year and more money, but I don't think that's going to matter much. He's not in it for the money, he's in it for the ring, and if the Cavs have a similar lineup a year from now and fail to get to the Finals again, he could very well bolt. I agree with you that it seems like he would prefer to stay, but the Cavs have to convince him to stay by showing that they are committed to building a great supporting cast for him. Most superstars re-sign, so you have that going for you, but LeBron is a unique case.

There are gonna be too many teams and GM's that are gonna be drooling at the mouths and they are gonna try and throw ridiculous amounts of dollars at LBJ23 for him not to be tempted and leave and He wants a championship this Cavaliers teamdidn't live up to what LeBron wanted,so unless the Cavaliers Organization goes and signs another Big Time Player in the off season,I think that next season is gonna be his last, that's just me though..

No one can offer him more than we can.

Cavs need to sign a big man. Z sucks, they need post game. Lebron can't carry the team, mo williams isn't enough. magic have such a stacked lineup and a much deeper bench, it's not THAT surprising they lost, just disapointing.
  • nicole_mvp94
great article. i agree with xraycat.

they need to call Phoenix and talk aboout Amare Stoudimare
    • SMH12289
He's already said in 2010 that he'd like to go to New York to re-unite with D'Antoni(Article is on my page)..So at least LeBron knows now that if he goes to New York, help will be there

That's what I wanted when they ended up with Joe Smith. I'm not knocking Joe Smith, but Amare would have been nice.
      • eagles4ever05
I think Amare would be nice player on that team

Only time will where LeBron James will end up going but Cleveland in this off season is gonna have to go out and get a Proven scorer for the Regular season and the Playoffs, these guys went MIA in this series...

lebron is a sore losser can even shake hands with dwight h. they just got ther ass kicked thats all,,thats what they get thinking ther were the ****. go play with your kids and leave the big dance for KOBY go LAKERS BABY.
  • ShaddixTBell
The Cavs need to focus on one deal only now that there season is gone...Amare Stoudamire. Amare already wanted out of Phoenix halfway through this season and the Suns aren't expected to keep him once his contract runs out anyways. He IS the missing piece of the Cavaliers finally getting the championship. Bringing in Amare solves their big man matchup problems with anyone they play. Amare is big and physical enough to handle Howard in the post and if KG comes back healthy Amare and him already have a bitter rivalry everytime they play and he will be able to help shut KG down.

I heard on ESPN this morning that Rasheed Wallace might be a good fit. The Pistons have had success against the Magic due to the fact that Wallace plays exceptional D on Howard.
    • ShaddixTBell
Good call rusty...not to mention he can play his good buddy KG and make any PF or C guard him beyond the permiter.

I heard Broussard say that as well. 'Sheed says he wants $8 M and the only way the Cavs can pull that off is a sign-and-trade with Detroit, maybe for Varejao? If Wallace is willing to go mid-level, the Cavs would probably take him assuming that it didn't interfere with their cap space next summer. Cleveland can afford to use the mid-level and still have room for two superstars next summer assuming they don't re-sign Varejao.

'Sheed isn't too old? The should have dumped Wally and JJ for Shaqfu when they had the chance.

This is Bruce Hooley's list he is a local radio announcer in Columbus 97.1 The Fan.

      David Lee (making 2.7 million)

Paul Milsap (making 749,000….but Utah has sworn off letting him get away)

Marcin Gortat, Orlando (making $1 million now)

Chris “birdman” Anderson (making 1 million now)

Antonio McDyss (if he wants to play, making $1 m)

      Rip Hamilton (11.6 m) or Ben Gordon (6.4 M)

If you pair up any of those shooters with any of the inside threats who can play defense it gives the Cavs some extra help.

Yeah, it's slim pickins for useful big men this off-season. Jermaine O'Neal, Milsap, Boozer, Lee, Gortat and Birdman. Lamar Odom will be a FA this summer too, his future obviously depends on this finals series. There are a couple other marginally useful players available Drew Gooden, Eddy Curry (I did say marginal). I don't see Cleveland landing anyone useful from the FA market. Maybe they can manage some sort of sign and trade for someone. All I know is Ben Wallace and Big Z need to retire.

lee or milsap would be ill, they need a younger guy, sheed is really good but he's past the point where he can help set up any long term success for the team.
        • rustysrf89
          Placard_complete_small
they dont need long term. They need short term so that they can keep Lebron happy by winning a championship, then he'll sign a deal with them. THEN you worry about the long term. But for now all their focus should be on winning a championship next year so they can keep Lebron.
  • Scrapper1
they improve so that they can keep Lebron...that team truly stinks outside Lebron..

First they must move on, Second get Lebron a sidekick, Third do not let Craig Ehlo back in the "Q" again...
  • jjisthetruth
It dosent matter what the Cavs do Lebron wont be there. Lebron will find a way to get the hell out of cleveland and I think it will be prior to 2010. Where will he go my pick is New York. Saddest part of all this is Lebron has come so far as a player to be so young and then completely embarassed himself by his actions after the game. Lebron shoulve been left cleveland. He will have to decide if he wants to be a champion or be loved by cleveland fans, which most will probably forget abt him as soon as he goes into a slump or the next great hype enters the leauge. One of the two are sure to happen.
  • Scrapper1
    tell em,jj...lol
  • hey everybody, did yall hear 'bout lebron? he had surgery and they removed a super-miniature sized basketball from his jaw. they (the doctors) were hella shocked when they saw it but more so after they looked at it and the damn thing had NBA on it.ha-ha-ha.
