It looks like the once hot market for Hawks forward Josh Smith has cooled considerably to the point that the only team that will offer him max money is his own, the lowly
Atlanta Hawks. OK, so they made the playoffs last season and gave the Celtics a scare, but do you really think this is the best place for him long term? After the
Elton Brand,
Corey Maggette, and
Marcus Camby transactions, Smith really is the odd man out. One of the biggest problems is the relationship between Coach Mike Woodson and Smith, which is reported to be "beyond repair". Will he opt for the most money but a potentially bad situation (Hawks) or take less for a better situation? I think we all know the answer to that...we'll see him in Atlanta next year but he won't be happy.
