First Josh Childress signed with Olympiakos for $32.5 million over three years. Then Lebron James said he'd play in Europe for $50 million a year. Now Dwyane Wade says, he would go over as well.

This is wave is unbelievable to me. I say it should frankly be a message to the NBA more than anything.
  • Yeah the superstars are forcing the NBA's hand to find a way to retain their players - i.e. increase the salary cap

Stern will lift the salery cap ASAP

I'm a Blazer fan but I would be pretty pissed if Wade went to europe, he's one of my favorite players. I don't think any of these players are leaving. I think there are way more endorsements for players who play in the NBA.

I hope there's not any truth to this. I understand players careers are short and they'd like to get paid as much as they can while they can, but c'mon. Where's the national pride? Why wouldn't you want to be on a team with a chance to win a championship in the greatest basketball league in the world?

There is no loyalty anymore. It's all about "ME" and the money. And, it's not like there are not endorsements in Europe. Maybe some are not as lucrative, but if they start getting major stars from American sports over there, the endorsement deals will follow.

The NBA has known it needed to open the league to international franchises for a long time but the logistics are tough - this will finally force them to do it. I predict an NBA Europe conference (or 2) within the next 10 years.

Forgot which exec said it today, but the danger is a bit overblown. Most of the Euro teams don't have significant television revenue, nor do they have modern stadiums. Sure, a billionaire could pick off a star or two, but a mass exodus won't happen.
