TEAMS: Phoenix Suns, Washington Wizards
The tailspin continued Sunday afternoon as the Wizards fell to the Phoenix Suns 102-90. Despite getting out to an early lead at the end of the first quarter, 29-26, the Wizards fell in yet another uninspired effort against the Suns. With the loss Washington fell to 2-5 on the season and earned their fourth loss in a row. The Suns improved to 6-1.
The Good:
Well...not much. To start with the team, the Wizards had less turnovers and shot better from the line than the Suns. With that being said, they still turned the ball over 17 times whille only registering 15 assists, and only shot 67 percent from the line.
Individually, Andray Blatche pleased Wizards fans by returning to the form he showed in the Wizards first several games. In just over 33 minutes Sunday night Blatche scored 20 points while blocking three shots and grabbing five boards.
Also contributing in the post was center Brendan Haywood. Two nights after coming off a career high 19 rebounds, Haywood grabb...

Suns Looking to Burn Sixers Tonight
I think the Phoenix Suns 6-1 start is one of the biggest surprises of the season thus far. They are a team in flux having traded away Shaq and returning to their full out run-and-gun roots but they are play really well. Now they have had the luxury of playing the Clippers, Warriors and Timberwolves. But they have also beat both Miami and Boston on the road.
Going into this game...
Mike James to miss next five weeks with broken hand
Wizards assistant coach Sam Cassell emerged from the locker room last Saturday, covering in a full lather of sweat. He shouted, "I got him! I got him!" Cassell had just beaten Paul Davis in a game of one-on-one, 12-11, after coming back from a 7-1 deficit. Cassell shouted, "These guys don't understand. I retired by choice! Not by force!" The Wizards don't have a roster spot available...
Nash And The Suns Are Rising
As for what you call this restoration in Phoenix, call it whatever you like – a comeback, a rebirth, a return to normalcy – but just be sure to remember who, we can thank for it: the incomparable Steve Nash.
Game to pay attention to: Suns vs. 76ers
Phoenix
at Philadelphia
We know what kind of year Steve Nash(notes) is
having (around 18 per game, 12 assists), and we're aware of what kind of
year his
Phoenix Suns are enjoying. You're probably aware that the Philadelphia 76ers are a .500 team, that Sam
Dalembert tries a lot of shots that he probably shouldn't, and that Elton Brand(notes)
is looking more and more like Sharone Wright...
Anemic offense slowing Wizards
Rather than dwell on his team's fourth straight defeat, Gilbert Arenas chose instead to point out a positive: The Washington Wizards, he says, finally have shored up a long-standing weakness - defense. The numbers back up Arenas. The Wizards (2-5) ranked among the worst teams in the league defensively for the past five years, but this season they rank eighth in field goal percentage...
Phoenix eclipses 100 eighth time in row
Jason Richardson scored 29 points, Steve Nash added 21 points and tied his season-high with 20 assists and the Phoenix Suns beat the Philadelphia 76ers 119-115 on Monday night.
Suns run past the 76ers
If you are fan of basketball you have to appreciate the artistry that is Steve Nash. I could not help but admire some of the moves he made last nite as he carved the 76ers up for 20 assists and 21 points. It was like he NEVER made a bad decision out there. So it’s hard to frown on the 100’s of Nash fans at the Wachovia center last nite. But I have to say the girl with the life size cut out
