Chris Mullin had a rough go of it the first time he held a position of authority high up in a basketball organization. His tenure as general manager of the Golden State Warriors did not go exactly as he had envisioned it to go. In his five years as GM in Golden State he managed to reach the playoffs just one time and compiled a record of 213-231. After a great 2007 season where the Warriors went 48-34 and knocked out the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs, it all went downhill. The teams record fell to a pathetic 29-53 in the 2008 season and an even worse 26-56 in 2009. It was time for Mullin to go.
The resume for Mullin has its positives and negatives as you would expect. Since I’m a “glass half full” type of guy, lets look at the positives first. In 2004, Mullin signed Jason Richardson and Troy Murphy, two quality players. In 2005 he made the trade of his career, sending Dale Davis and Speedy Claxton to New Orleans for Baron Davis. Bar...
