CSNNE reports that Danny had a good chuckle over the rumors that he is "likely" to buy Pierce out. In their article titled "Ainge: No decision yet on Pierce's future," they discuss Danny's reaction to the rumors. Danny Ainge can only chuckle when asked about the latest round of rumors involving the Celtics, who are reportedly "likely" to buy out Paul Pierce's contract for $5 million. "Nothing surprises me," Ainge told CSNNE.com. "I'll just let speculation continue." There is also some speculation on KG's situation. We recall that during All Star Weekend, KG very emphatically said that he wasn't going to waive his no trade clause and had this to say, "I bleed green. I die green," Garnett said at the time. "But it is a business. Trades are a part of this league. Every year, you're going to hear things." After the season ending loss, KG hinted that his decisions for next season would be tied to Paul Pierce's fate. But there is also some concern over the bone spurs that kept him out down the stretch. At first it was reported that he needed surgery but eventually it was determined that surgery would not be needed and rest should fix the problem. It turns out that the bone spurs, more than Pierce's situation may influence his decision. A league source told CSNNE.com that the biggest factor in Garnett's return will be his health, and whether the perennial All-Star feels he can still compete at a level he is accustomed to. "If his body isn't where he wants it to be, Paul's return is a moot point of discussion," the source said. Ainge has not made a decision on Pierce, nor has he contacted KG yet. Danny said earlier that he hadn't talked to KG yet because he couldn't answer the questions that KG was sure to ask. And we know the first question will be whether Paul Pierce will be returning to the Celtics. As can be surmised by the recent workouts in Waltham, the Celtics are concentrating on the upcoming June 27 draft. "I think we're going to get somebody that we like at 16," said Ainge, who added that the C's may look to make a move up or down depending how the draft plays out. "There's some good players out there that I think have pretty good value," Ainge said. "There just aren't a lot of franchise players." If the workouts are any indication, I'm thinking that Ainge will target a center at 16 and then buy or trade for a lower pick to grab a point guard. But, since the decision on Pierce's option has to be made by June 30, he has to at least be checking out the options that he has with that as well. [Discuss on CG Forums!]
