For the second time this season, Aaron Brooks will miss a game due to a suspension. The Suns point guard is likely suspended for throwing the ball toward an official after turning the ball over out of bounds during Friday night’s contest against Golden State.
Brooks was suspended back in February when he was a Rocket as well for walking off the court during the fourth quarter before the game was over. Fortunately for the Suns, they are one of the few teams in the league that carry three point guards. Zabian Dowdell, who has played exceptionally well when given the opportunity, will be Steve Nash’s backup today in Los Angeles against the Clippers. Brooks will still be with his teammates in LA.
With 15 games to go to the end of the regular season, every game is starting to become a must win for the Suns. Six of the final 15 are against teams with losing records, with the Clips being in that category. You can clearly put this one in the must win category. The Suns will be seeking some revenge against Los Angeles. In their previous matinee matchup in Los Angeles on the day after Christmas, the Clippers took down the Suns 108-103.
Phoenix will see a much different looking Clippers team since that time. The Clips have a different point guard in Mo Williams after sending Baron Davis to Cleveland for him and Chris Kaman has since returned from injury, that kept him out for several months. Phoenix was without Vince Carter in that Dec. 26 meeting as well.
