Fox Sports North:
Rick Adelman is not expected to rejoin the Minnesota Timberwolves in San Antonio on Sunday or Dallas on Monday, according to Terry Porter, who's been acting as head coach in Adelman's absence. Adelman has been with his wife, Mary Kay, while she's been hospitalized, and he hasn't coached the team since Jan. 5.
With that announcement, the coach will not be with the team at least until it returns from its four-game road trip. The Timberwolves' next game after the trip will be Thursday against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Porter also said Saturday that guard J.J. Barea, who's been in Dallas getting treatment on his back, may be in San Antonio in time to play in Sunday night's game. If Barea were to return, that would give the Timberwolves 10 players Sunday, possibly 11 if Lazar Hayward has recovered from his illness.

The Minnesota Timberwolves say coach Rick Adelman will remain away from the team while he tends to his wife, who has been in the hospital.
The Timberwolves made the announcement Thursday, one day after Adelman missed his second straight game. They say that his status remains day-to-day and he will return to coaching “as soon as he is able.”

NEW ORLEANS -- The Timberwolves were down to nine healthy players at Friday's shootaround; Lazar Hayward is now ill and questionable for the game in New Orleans, and J.J. Barea remains in Dallas, where he went to see a doctor about his back problems. The soonest he will join the team is for its Sunday game in San Antonio.

Two-and-a-half years later, Gay is readily available — mostly because the Grizzlies, barring a trade of either him or another high-priced player, will be in luxury tax purgatory.
So, this is Kahn’s chance to land a player he has long coveted. But according to a league source, he turned down a trade proposal from Memphis for Gay recently.
In fact, the source insists Kahn said...
It will be not just one surgery but two next week for Timberwolves guard Malcolm Lee. Lee hasn't played since Dec. 12, when he hurt his right knee, and next week he'll have surgery to repair cartilage in that knee as well as another surgery on his right hip.
Lee's knee surgery will take place Monday, his hip surgery Wednesday. Dr. Jonathan Glashow at Midtown Surgical...
NEW ORLEANS It was just a joke, really.
Terry Porter wasn't serious when he pondered the notion of the player-coach before Friday's loss in New Orleans. He compared himself to Bill Russell, after all, the guy who won two championships as a player-coach in Boston in 1968 and 1969. Terry Porter is no Bill Russell, not as this stand-in coach and certainly not in his playing...
The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced that guard Malcolm Lee will undergo two surgeries next week.
On Monday, Jan. 14, Lee will undergo a right knee cartilage repair. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Jonathan Glashow at Midtown Surgical Center in New York. On Wednesday, Jan. 16, Lee will undergo surgery on his right hip. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Bryan Kelly at...
SAN ANTONIO - The Minnesota Timberwolves fought admirably, as they have all season despite many injuries, but a road game against the home-tough Spurs was too tall an order, as the Timberwolves fell 106-88 Sunday at the AT&T Center. Tony Parker scored 20 points, and Gary Neal had 10 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter, when he ignited a spurt for the Spurs (29-11). The...
