When the Wachovia Center (or the First Union Center, CoreStates Center or whichever of the numerous names the Sixers’ home venue has been called) was really rocking during the Allen Iverson years, the gritty guard would bounce around the court, holding his hand up to his ear, inviting the Philadelphia fans to roar louder and louder. The Sixers are celebrating their 50th birthday, and as part of the celebration they are asking their fans to name their favorite moment in the franchise’s history. With Iverson back in the building Saturday for his bobblehead night, the former NBA Most Valuable Player was asked for his top moment as a Sixer. Iverson’s answer was somewhat surprising, since it was not an on-court moment at all. “I would say my favorite moment was when they hired Larry Brown,” Iverson told Sixers.com reporter Ayla Brown. “Because he took my game to another level. His knowledge of basketball took me to another level as far as being a player. I’m grateful to him and that’s wh...

Allen Iverson bobblehead night a sad statement

Allen Iverson bobble head night seemed like a decent enough idea. Sure, it was an obvious play by ownership to put some fans in the seats, but there's worse ways to do it than honoring an all-time great and giving away a free bobble head. But when it all boiled down, Allen Iverson bobble head night at the Wells Fargo Center was more sad than anything, and the sadness is...

Report: Andrew Bynum won’t Show the 76ers any Loyalty during Free Agency

The Philadelphia 76ers have a very interesting dilemma on their hands. When they acquired center Andrew Bynum in a blockbuster trade last off-season, they felt they finally had a star to build around and a new direction with their franchise. Unfortunately though, Bynum never actually played for the team. Numerous knee injuries have cost Bynum the whole season and now with...

Allen Iverson Returns to Philadelphia for Booble Head Night (Video)

When it came to heart and passion, I’m not sure you can make a case for somebody leaving it all on the court more than former Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson. From the way he attacked the rim with reckless abandon, to his always memorable “Practice” press conference, Iverson left his mark on the 76ers franchise and the city of Philadelphia in more ways than one. The...

Jason Richardson Should Never Bet Again!

Philadelphia 76ers and former Michigan State Spartan’s alumnus Jason Richardson lost a bet to Milwaukee Buck and former Duke standout J.J Redick over the weekend. Their former college teams played one another and by now you know the rest. Michigan State didn’t seem to put up much of a fight by losing 71-61 in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament. Richardson lost the bet and this...

76ers-Bobcats Preview

The Philadelphia 76ers have picked a good time to try to register a season-best fourth consecutive victory. Having two straight games against the NBA's worst team has helped give them that opportunity.
