An actual NBA legend may find his way onto the Texas Legends. The Legends, the inappropriately named NBA Development League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks, are trying to sign former NBA Most Valuable Player Allen Iverson, according the ESPN. Mavericks president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson, who owns the Legends, reportedly has “ramped up” his pursuit of the 11-time All-Star and future Hall of Fame guard. Iverson, 37, has not played in the NBA since 2010, when he appeared in 25 games for the Philadelphia 76ers. He signed a contract to play in Turkey for the 2010-11 season, but injuries limited him to only 10 games. In case Iverson views this as a publicity stunt, the Legends can offer Mike James‘ example as a lure. James was called up to the Mavericks  earlier this month, and after two 10-day contracts, James’ deal has been guaranteed through the end of the season. Former Celtics guard Delonte West also plays for the Legends, although Mark Cuban has said West playing for the Mavs is “not gonna happen.”
