The small town of Newtown, Connecticut endured one of the most senseless and disgusting tragedies a year ago Sunday. Pistons’ center Andre Drummond, who played his high school and college ball in Connecticut, honored the 26 victims who were murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School during the Pistons 111-109 loss to Portland Sunday at The Palace.
On his Instagram page, Drummond wrote, “I decided to write all 26 names that died today in the Sandy Hook shooting. #CtTogetherWeStand.”
You can see his shoe above. Drummond also said he plans on auctioning off the jersey he wore Sunday and donating the proceeds to the school.
For those scoring at home, Andre Drummond is 20 years old. The perceived knock on him prior to last year’s draft was his immaturity. Immaturity Schimmaturity.
Nice job, big man.
