Found October 15, 2013 on NESN.com:
Around Boston, fans have come to accept the idea that the Celtics will be beyond terrible this year. With one of the deepest draft classes in memory supposedly on the way next June, bottoming out might not be the worst thing for the Celtics this season. No matter how appealing an all-out tankjob may be, however, the Celtics do not appear to be going that route. Even if they fall fell short of their accomplishments from previous seasons, the Celtics will have a hard time occupying the cellar of the Eastern Conference. Part of that is due to the sad state of the East; part is due to the fact that the Celtics probably just aren’t that bad. Although they disagree on exactly which teams will be around the Celtics in the standings, NESN.com NBA editor Ben Watanabe and NESN Sports Today anchor Adam Pellerin agree on one thing: The Celtics are most likely headed for the fringe of the playoff chase, a dreaded no man’s land with no hope of a championship yet little odds for a high draft pick....

At look at the Celtics preseason stats that stand out so far

Trying to make any real judgments based on four games of preseason basketball is a completely absurd thing to do.  But that doesn't mean we can't look at the numbers up to this point and take note of what's been happening. So far Jared Sullinger has clearly been the C's most effective player.  He's leading the team in both scoring and rebounding, putting...

Rondo isn’t as bad a shooter as you think

As if we needed yet another statistic in the NBA, we have the ShotScore – a Grantland writer’s method to identify the game’s best scorers. … the method compares the actual point yield of an individual NBA shooter against an estimated tally of what an average NBA shooter would accrue from that exact same set of shots. This is a useful way to evaluate shooting because unlike...

Don't "sleep" on Brad Stevens... I'm sorry I had to write that

In addition to considering all of the options in front of him, analyzing mountains of data, and searching for the ever ellusive Contra Code version of the Celtics starting line up, head coach Brad Stevens is looking outside of basketball practices to give his team an edge. One such strategy is something Jordan's Furniture commercials have been telling us about for years: the...

Pressey not worried with ankle injury

Celtics rookie Phil Pressey rolled his ankle Wednesday night against the Raptors, and it sounds like it's going to take more then a turned ankle to slow the rookie down. I've personally been impressed with his calmness on the court, and his toughness may be another thing to add to the list. CSNNE "I'm good," he told Rajon Rondo who offered to let him out...

Stevens wants Bass to anchor the defense

Brandon Bass has been many things over his eight years in the league. He's been a second round pick, a bench player, a starter, the guy who replaced Big Baby and a guy who can drain a mid-range jumper like nobody's business. Two words that never went together when describing Bass were defense and anchor. Coach Brad Stevens is looking to change that, from Jay King at MassLive...

Paul Pierce says the Celtics have a 'bright future'

After last night's Celtics-Nets exhibition contest, Paul Pierce had a few kind words regarding the outlook of his former team (quotes via ESPN Boston's Chris Forsberg): "They’ve got a lot of good, young talent. I’ve had a chance to watch them a couple times on TV. Obviously you see their big rookie [Kelly Olynyk]; you see [Jared] Sullinger, he’s taken the next...

Brandon Bass, Celtics Feeling Mixed Emotions for Reunion With Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett

WALTHAM, Mass. — Brandon Bass is no Rajon Rondo. Bass could only mimic his teammate’s disinterested attitude toward the Brooklyn Nets for so long before breaking on Monday. When Rondo was asked on media day what he felt upon hearing Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce had been traded, the point guard muttered, “Nothing.” Bass wasn’t quite so cold when asked about the Celtics’...

Underrated Stat of the Night - Raptors 10/16

Despite having 6 out of their 11 players score in double digits tonight, the Celtics still lost their second straight game to the Raptors, 99-97. As I said in the updates, this defeat drops their record now to 1-5, something that even for the preseason looks ugly. On the bright side, most of those losses were really close, but a close loss still isn't a win. To me, the regular...

Will Jeff Green become "The Green Monster" or leave Celtic fans green with envy?

I've been waiting for the opportunity when I could begin referring to Jeff Green as "The Green Monster" on a regular basis. I have always been tantalized with Green's talent and this play from the preseason game against The Nets in Brooklyn illustrates why. I was also at this game in Phoenix against The Suns last season. Green totaled 31 points on 11-14 shooting...

Gerald Wallace Says He Was Scapegoat in Brooklyn, Says Nets ‘Had to Point the Finger at Somebody’

Gerald Wallace does not hold many tender feelings toward the previous stops in his NBA career. “I’ve got, like, four former teams,” Wallace said at practice earlier this week, before the Celtics played the Brooklyn Nets in a preseason game Tuesday. “So there ain’t no [added] motivation.” Wallace especially does not feel all warm and fuzzy about his most recent former...

Kris Humphries Selling Kim Kardashian’s Wedding Ring for $500k

If I was THE HUMP, I would keep the cash, but it looks like he will be donating the money to charity. “The ring is indeed Kris’ property that he received through his marriage dissolution,” the rep said in a statement. “He has long-since moved on.” “Kris is very much looking forward to a successful auction at Christie’s and of course to returning to the court this upcoming...

Someone Paid $749,000 For Kim Kardashian’s Engagement Ring From Kris Humphries

(via Getty Image) A long, long time ago, in a galaxy that was actually Los Angeles, Kim Kardashian was married to an NBA player named Kris Humphries. K-Hump, as we’d eventually call him, was a slightly-above-average role player for the New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets, but he was lucky enough to catch Kim Kardashian in a down swing during her quest to date some of the most uninspiring...

2013-2014 NBA Player Rankings (80-71)

This is 80-71 of our NBA player rankings. I’ve hoped you’d enjoyed so far thanks for reading!   80. Klay Thompson (Golden St Warriors) Klay Thompson is one half of the Splash Brothers that made themselves households name last season. Thompson and his other half Steph Curry will try to make another deep playoff run this season with the addition of Andre Igoudala. Klay may be...
