France has produced some solid NBA players. Tony Parker, Nicolas Batum, Rony Turiaf and Ian Mahinmi are perhaps more of the notable French-born players and one of them who gets lost in the shuffle is Dallas Mavericks' Rodrigue Beaubois.

There is no doubt he can fill the basket (he's nicknamed "Roddy Buckets" for a reason). The lightning quick guard for Dallas has a career-high scoring outburst of 40 points in 2010 and season-high of 22 but it would seem this isn't enough for the Mavs.

According to ESPN, Beaubois may be on his way out of Dallas sooner or later.

Sources say Dallas is about ready to move on from the Roddy Beaubois experiment. The Mavericks have thought for years that the talented young Frenchman could be another Tony Parker, but he has not been able to master the move from shooting guard to point guard. Nor has he been able to fill the void left by J.J. Barea. If they don't move him before this year's deadline, he could be gone over the summer.

Granted his numbers this season may not jump at you (7.3 points, 2.5 assists in 18 minutes per game) but seeing how this team isn't getting younger and with Jason Kidd in the midst of the twilight of his career, perhaps the Mavs should temper any ideas of shipping off Beaubois. He is in his second year in the NBA, really hasn't had major minutes on the court (15.1 career minutes average). If Dallas wants him to "master" the point guard spot, then give him time to do it.

Moreover, seeing how many think Dallas will be gunning for soon-to-be free agent Deron Williams this summer, having Beaubois would be a more than adequate backup seeing how he is familiar with the Mavs' system.

Beaubois currently has three years left on his contract with the Mavs (third year a qualifying option at $3.2 million) and is due $1.2 million this season, and $2.2 million next season. And considering this is a point guard's league, many other teams might be willing to trade for Beauboios. Lakers anyone?
