In last night's 87-56 victory over Orlando, Avery Bradley's constant pressure on defense inspired the rest of the Celtics to turn in one of the team's best defensive performances this season. However, Avery revealed in a post-game interview that his full-court pressure annoyed Magic point guard Jameer Nelson so badly that Nelson actually asked Bradley to ease up. From the Boston Herald: “It got to a point where he didn’t want to bring the ball up,” Bradley said of Nelson. “That’s when I knew I was having an effect.” To wit, Nelson had as many turnovers (five) as points, and fewer assists (three). Bradley’s confident words considered, it will be interesting to see how Nelson responds. But Nelson’s response is nothing new when compared to other players, according to Bradley. “I can tell (when they get frustrated). Sometimes they talk to me,” said Bradley. “They’ll say you can get back a little bit, you don’t have to pick me up all the time, and when they start ...

Avery Bradley developing strong confidence in defensive abilities

The game plan didn’t initially call for Avery Bradley to harass Jermaine O’Neal for 94 feet on every possession.“It really wasn’t (the plan), but I told Doc, ‘I’m going to pick him up for the whole game,’” Bradley said after spending his night repeatedly shutting a door on Jameer Nelson’s fingers. “He kinda looked at me...

With Strong Play of Late, Avery Bradley Making Case As A Future Starter, Making Rondo Tradeable?

With Rajon Rondo out to a wrist injury over the past three games, Avery Bradley has earned the nod as the starting point guard for the Boston Celtics over the last week. Prior to earning the temporary starting role, most fans either: A. had no clue who Avery Bradley was B. had no clue what [...]

Recap: High energy Celtics ***** slap the Magic

What the hell just happened? The Celtics unleashed a defensive buzz saw tonight on the Orlando Magic. The final score: 87-56. A Celtics team missing FIVE rotation players beat down the 11-win Magic. A Celtics team on the second night of back-to-back games throttled a team that hadn't played in two days. This was supposed to be the lock of all locks. Not in our house! Kevin...

Celtics destroy Magic 87-56

Let me begin by apologizing for not recapping the Celtics' win over Washington on Sunday. In fact, let me do that now. Paul Pierce was good. The Wizards are the craptastic. End of summary. On to tonight, where the Celtics strutted out a lineup that I'm pretty sure included Huey, Duey and Louie. They then proceeded to absolutely embarrass the bejesus out of...

Off the Dribble: Bradley Revives Boston Defense With One-Man Press

Celtics backup guard Avery Bradley proved the wisdom of a one-man press with his impressive performance against Orlando.

Ray Allen not with the Celtics as they leave for Orlando

This shouldn't come as a huge surprise as the Celtics will make sure that Ray's as close to 100 percent as possible before bringing him back. We knew going into the season that, for the vast majority of the C's, it will take a little longer for them to recover from these types of bumps and bruises. In addition, A. Sherrod Blakely informed us that Ray and his...

Jameer Nelson Admits That Dwight Howard's Talk Of Other PG's Has Affected Him

When NBA'ers offer cliche' filled soundbyte packages during postgame pressers or whatever we have the tendency to respond with a collective eye roll. It's boring, and sounds like that teacher Charlie Brown had after a while. So many times we can almost recite a response before a particular player even starts talking. We left it out on the floor today. We needed to execute...

Jameer Nelson Blames Dwight Howard Saga for Struggles

Both Jameer Nelson and Orlando Magic GM Otis Smith placed some of the blame for Nelson’s struggles this season on Dwight Howard’s massive shoulders, which doesn’t seem like the most brilliant of tactics. Per the Orlando Sentinel: “Jameer Nelson admitted that Dwight Howard’s mention of playing with other point guards affected him. A slumping Nelson said...

Comments From the Other Side - Magic 1/23

I love gathering these comments when fans start out guaranteeing a win and end up eating crow. Truthfully, the Celtics surprised me and I'm always expecting a win. Interesting how Magic fans turned on their team by the end of the game. Big Baby doesn't have a lot of fans in Orlando right now. This was a great win for the Celtics. Not bad for a bunch of "old guys...

Dwight Howard's Best Chance to Win Is With Orlando Magic

Dwight Howard is apparently hurting Jameer Nelson's feelings. What a meanie. Orlando Magic general manager Otis Smith has been through a lot with the Howard saga over the past two seasons, and on Friday he said that the issue has finally trickled down from the front office to the players. The distractions of Howard's impending free agency and rumblings of his desire to play...
