Kris Humphries has gotten an inordinate amount of screen time in the past couple of years. Most forwards who have averaged 6.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game over the course of their nine-year careers don’t grace Page Six of the New York Post on a regular basis. Most NBA forwards aren’t Kim Kardashian‘s ex-husband, of course. Still, many times when Humphries is recognized in public, it’s not as himself. As he told ESPN.com, fans often confuse Humphries for Blake Griffin, and vice versa. The two forwards of vastly different skill levels shared a few yucks over the cases of mistaken identity while in Los Angeles for summer workouts. “I came in the gym and I was like, ‘Blake, someone thought I was you,’” Humphries told Jared Zwerling. “And he’s like, ‘Yeah, yeah, the same thing happens to me all the time.’ It’s just funny because sometimes someone will come up to me and be like, ‘Blah, blah, blah, blah.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m not him.’ And they think I’m being a [expletive] because of it. “I feel bad. I’m like, ‘I hope this person doesn’t think it was actually Blake and I’m not trying to talk to him.’ But I don’t think we look alike at all. I mean, we’re about the same size, the same build.” Humphries, who is 6-foot-9, 235 pounds, and Griffin, who is 6-10, 251, do have somewhat similar frames and builds. They are together in L.A. for informal workouts at the Clippers’ practice facility, which has become a popular offseason venue for NBA players. During his time in L.A., Humphries told ESPN he has played against Griffin and David Lee, and has run pick-and-rolls with James Harden and Carmelo Anthony. He has not played with Rajon Rondo yet, though he said he is looking forward to it. Filed under: Boston Celtics, Headlines
