NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- Deron Williams had 19 points and matched his season high with 14 assists and the New Jersey Nets snapped a five-game losing streak with a 102-89 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday night. Kris Humphries added 20 points and 16 rebounds and former Bobcat Gerald Wallace had 15 points as the Nets (16-34) swept the four-game season series with the woeful Bobcats (7-39). Sheldon Williams added 10 points and 11 rebounds for New Jersey, which had all five starters score in double figures. Backup center Byron Mullens had 17 points to lead the Bobcats, who were coached by assistant coach Stephen Silas. Head coach Paul Silas has handed the team over to his son for three full games this season to give him experience. Rookie MarShon Brooks added 11 points for the Nets, who never trailed in the game. Coach Avery Johnson didn't take any chances in this one either. He played his starters until the final 2 minutes just to make sure New Jersey didn't blew i...

Larry King has a major Dwight Howard scoop

He was leaving, then he was staying, then it looked certain he would be leaving. But, nah, Dwight Howard punk’d all of us as decided to stay with the Magic, as far-from-thilled he looked and sounded about it. But now a new, scandalous, shocking, loosely-sourced report about Howard’s formerly potential move to the New Jersey Nets has surfaced. But this isn’t the enterprising...

Ex-Nets guard George indicted in Ponzi scheme

Former New Jersey Nets guard Tate George was indicted on federal charges for running a Ponzi scheme. George was indicted in Newark, N.J., on four counts of wire fraud for using The George Group to bilk investors of more than $2 million. A first-round pick of the Nets in 1990, George claimed to be the CEO of the firm that he said managed more than $500 million in assests. Prosecutors...

Is it time for Paul Silas to step down?

Some may consider this no big deal, but I think it is. The supposed head coach of the Charlotte Bobcats stepped aside Saturday night and let his son—who does happen to be one of his assistant coaches—and let him coach the team. Apparently it was not the first time he’s done this but the fifth. [...]

Nets Still Flailing Despite Additions

Mikhail Prokhorov made some bold claims shortly after becoming majority owner of the New Jersey Nets. Despite being one of the most aggressive teams in the league in terms of pursuing trades, The Nets (16-4) have little to show for the efforts. Squandered attempts to orchestrate a trade for Dwight Howard saw the team settle with a acquiring Gerald Wallace from the Portland Trailblazers...

Spurs get Diaw day after his release in Charlotte

The Spurs have signed forward Boris Diaw a day after he was waived by the Charlotte Bobcats. Details of the deal announced Friday weren't released. Diaw had fallen out of favor with Bobcats coach Paul Silas, and his agent said he wanted to play for a contending team. The Bobcats entered Friday with an NBA-worst seven wins, while the Spurs started the day second in the Western...

Bobcats-Nets Preview

While the New Jersey Nets haven't taken advantage of some favorable matchups recently, they have done so this month against the league-worst Charlotte Bobcats. The Nets will try to sweep the season series against the Bobcats and end a five-game losing streak Saturday night at the Prudential Center. New Jersey (15-34) and Charlotte (7-38) have two of the worst records in the...

Michael Jordan needs to be hands-off for Bobcats to succeed

No matter how you slice it, Michael Jordan is likely in anyone's top five players in NBA history. A six-time NBA champion (and six-time Finals MVP), five-time NBA MVP, 10 scoring titles, 9-time All defense first team, and a 14-time All-Star, Jordan was peerless in his playing career. Even his comeback with the Wizards from 2001-2003 produced in both the box office (home attendance...

Tank City? Charlotte Bobcats seek the number one pick

How many times have we seen this before: teams tanking the season in order to secure the number one pick in the draft? Unfortunately for the Charlotte Bobcats, securing the number one pick takes more than having the worst record in the league. Unlike the NFL which automatically rewards the worst team with the first pick in the draft, the NBA has a lottery system that decides where...

Clippers pick watch

The Celtics hold the LA Clippers first round pick in this summer's draft.  It's top 10 protected, but it goes to Boston if it falls anywhere from 11 on down.  This is a deep draft, and a pick in the 11-15 range can produce a player who might make an immediate impact.  So we're going to keep an eye on the standings and the Clippers' peformance to see where that...
